A Simple Question

well i've seen the graphics and read a lot of the reviews about this game and so far im loving it but there is one thing that concerns me. well those of you who have played this game alread can answer this question really easily. is this game like guild wars or is it more of a wow game. what i mean by referring to guild wars is that, is the game one of those games that only have players in town but when outside town you cant see them. i mean is it like when you go outside the town becomes an instance that only allows you to see yourself and no one else or is it more like WoW where everyone is everywhere no matter inside or outside of the town... thanks for answering

  • Its more open than WoW. Only about 10-20% of the game is slated to be instanced according to designer house of commons chats.

Quick answer. This game is nothing like guild wars. You do not zone into towns. You only have to zone into buildings wich aren't instances they just have them seperate from the main world to help with latancy in towns. Hope this answers your question.

so basically i can walk out of town and see people with out inviting them to the party like in WoW? cuz im afraid of the guild war system of how the whole game is made of instances and im basically playing an rpg by myself and only meet people when i need help. i want to be able to see people no matter where i go .....

Exactly. When you walk out of town you will see people running around all over the place. Farming resource nodes or killing mobs for quests. You will not be in an instance all by yourselve. This is an open game with the only instances being in the starting area that is actually an instance with a cap of how many people are allowed in it say something like only 50 people per starting instance. Or for quest instances were it will just be you  or if your in a fellowship, you and your fellowship. Otherwise you will not be alone in the world.

The zones are not instanced like GW. As you run around the world, you see the other players. The towns are not instanced, so the same in towns. You do "zone" into the interiors of buildings, but you see other players there as well. If you, say, go to the Auction House in Bree, you will see the other players in there who are also in the Auction House in Bree.

Some instanced dungeons are shared, but I believe most are just shared with your party.
