A paladin and a plate wearing healer (I cant remember the healer that wears plate or heavy armor atm i just woke up) this way the tank can have heals and high hp and tank away while the healer heals, or a wizard and a healer(this way the wiz can chain and nuke and if the mob gets too close the healer can heal).

I agree i played the trial and really enjoyed it and if it were not for LOTRO i would have kept playing it but my missus will only allow me to pay for 1 game at time lol now is that under the thumb or what.

I have been playin a pally  , I like  to group up with any dps class .  Put  Amends ( hate transfer ) on your partner  and  with a bit of taunting you'll have lock aggro , leaving you free to ward/heal  and  set them up  to open up and do their thing.  With a bit of power controll on your part ( we tend to be power hogs)  and good dps you can  chain pull  pretty consistantly or duo some impressive targets. I am sure there are many combos that work well  , as a Pally I have spent alot of time duo with a RL friend who played a Ranger then switched to a Conj  and both of these have worked out well. With the Conj  I amends the pet  and  we 're off . In short  find a class you like to play and duo with another class that fills in  where you feel you are weak, the combinations are endless for that reason . Pick a class you like to play first. I like playin a Pally overall and  I choose a dps class to duo with as I feel we dps like paint dries .

It's sad really, I played Everquest 2 a bit and it was fun, I just didn't think it was my thing, but now I'm on a boycott of SOE products so the everquest franchise is no longer on my list. It certainly was a good game last time I played it, but I've heard that they seem to have started screwing it up though I'm not sure and I don't want to try it because I'm worried about getting screwed over by them heh...

Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place.

    Screwing it up how?

The only thing they've done that I don't like is removing the right click on the hotbar so that the only way to get the right click menu up is to hover over the left side of the bar where there doesn't look like there's anything and right click. They've also removed the arrows so that the only way to change which bar is your primary bar is to use the right click.

But those are small things, not anything I'd say is a reason they'd be "screwing it up".

A very good duo is Monk/bruiser with Mystic/defiler.The combination of the monks avoidence tanking, which  means you will be getting hit less than a plate tank,  and a shamans wards will permit you to duo almost all but the most difficult named group encounters . Another good duo would be brigand / healer, provided the brigand is skilled. The easiest combination to go though would be plate  tank and fury. Tank will be taking the damage , while fury does the dps and occasionaly heals.

Plate healers are Templars and  Inquisitors. Not very good for due mainly becuase of their poor dps. Wizard and healers not very good option, roots dont work all that good, they are easy to break. Also if you face  caster mob , the wizard runs the danger of beeing oneshoted from range. Also against group encounters the wizard will find it tough to retain aggro from all mobs when healer is chainhealing.

The best duo is usually a DPS tank and a healer. A well equipped swashbuckler or brigand can tank a little as well, so that’s an option as well. Mystics probably have the best heals for a duo, but druids have better DPS which is helps a lot as well.

    Some good combinations

    Berserker + Fury/Warden

    Monk/Bruiser + Mystic/Defiler or Fury/Warden

    Swashbuckler/Brigand + Mystic/Defiler

You could also go with a self healing tank and a DPS class

    Shadowknight + Assassin/Necromancer/Warlock

    Paladin + Ranger/Conjurer/Wizard

There are also some good outside of the box combinations like Coercer/Wizard but these take a little while to figure out and may not be good for someone just starting out.

I want to enjoy EQ2, but all I see with any class is "mash buttons, spam HO wheel, mash some more buttons, spam HO wheel again."  EQ2's gameplay has got to be the most "gamey, abstract" fighting system I've even seen.  It feels like all classes play the same.

And the endless list of redundant skills you receive every level, during levels sometimes, that pop up and confuse your action bar during a fight.

I'd like to see a more sensible streamlined combat/skill system set in their world, because the graphics are very nice.

Your playing EQ2 right? Ive played for years and have never had any new spells pop up on my hotbar during a fight, unless you mean when you level, which will only happen until you reach 50, and only then when you actually hit 100%. The mid level spell unlocking went about a year ago, and from 50 to 70 you have to buy your spells from players.
