I hope they have games like Poker, which you can play for ISK. I can see myself staying in the station all day playing it... especially if I'm being camped.
I've thought that EvE should have had actual player characters since it's release. This is one of the few games that I feel like I play equipment - instead of a character.

I agree. I love feeling in-control of my characters, the one thing EVE is missing (for me).
Looks like Eve online will be the Pay to Play Microsoft Freelancer...
Is that a good thing or bad?
Well in Freelancer, you didn't have control on your character it was just a point and click CGI animated cut scenes. That's what that video looks like to me. I thought with the new Eve stuff you would be able to control the character... like walk around in fantasy mmos.

Well as i understand it you will have full controll of your ingame station walking avitars. Also the features we get at the begining is jsut that the begining over the following months and years new features will be added based on 2 things.
- Waht the devs want to see in stations.
- What the community request to be put in Via the fetures and ideas forum.
As for how you play your avatar, unless they add actual play like combat etc, I don't mind if its mostly animations, like the sims 2 for instance, because it looks nice. But how much control would you need of your char if its mostly things like sitting in a chair, getting up and interacting with other people (like in the film, where the female char got up and saluted the male character and they then walked to the ship together, used tech stations etc)
As for the cut scene look, you can't really judge, because you can make any game look "film like" when you make a trailer, swirving the camera around the char by changing pov etc.
It was my understanding that there would be merchants and other activities available in the space stations, as well as a more personable interface for accessing the services that the station has to offer. I think there has been a lot of complaining about not having a seperate avatar as the reason folks don't like to play the game. I figure this change will only affect about 5% of your play time in EVE, but I am really looking forward to it all the same. My suggestions in talking with friends is that they add a tabletop game where you can use your militants to play mini-combat games and bet some isk on it. I mean after all, what else good are militants other than keeping the exotic dancers and janitors company....well, that and jetisoning into space when you get mad at em.
I wonder if that is actual in game footage.?.? Looks great, I might actually going back to playing EVE when this come about.
Yes its the new direct X 9 graphics engine you see there at work and yes thats ingame graphics. tho the devs admit its unfinished even in the movie so expect it to be more polished.
If Eve begins to add msc features to avatar content... not just allowing you on the station.. but maybe mini-games or social interactions on a different scale... i will be MORE than happy to give them my credit card number once again to play.. and i'll be staying for a good while.
Avatar-less content was what drove me away from the game... being stuck in your ship for an endless eon was not my cup of tea for a sci-fi MMO... sci-fi pretains to so much more than just space... there are planets and space stations as well that your 'pilot' can generally explore in the real world (assuming we'd be able to explore space to this level that is)
Add some good things to do for your spare time... some good emotes and extra stuff like clothing outfitters and the lot... maybe even some avatar quests (even if they are "deliver this") and i'm in for the long haul!

This feature will take some time to implement I guess, since there are too many stations in eve to count, but it would be great and add even more fredom to players, would be nice if we get some sort of minigames while on the station, like chess, maibe some sports or even some sort of shuttle races inside the bigger stations, sometimes when I dont have alot of time to play and im waiting for a skill to complete I have nothing to do,would be nice if I could play some minigames with some people on stations.Tho I can see some issues with stations, systems like Jita,Oursalent,Rens etc. will have 1 station flooded with players wich = lag complaints.

is only going to be fun for about 2 minutes. Could be a major error in development resource allocation
unless this is leading to something of substance IMO.
Looks great
