It should be : I think lotro is the best mmo release ever.
I could agree then since your likings isn't mine...but int his case i have to say NO NO NO it isn't.In the overall opinion LOTRO is NOT the best , specially if you put "ever" in it it's undoubtfully wrong. It is however a good one..but don't forget servers couldn't handle it last week so you could be yelling out too fast here....

The servers codemaster are running had some problems, and i am not sure that it was a case were the servers crashed. They brought them down because they found a problem and instead of letting the problem bring the servers down they brought them down to fix it. Big differance from the server crashing and them bringing them down.
The NA servers have only been brought down for updates and for maintance that i am aware of. So yes this is actually the best launch that i have seen in a game. Of course that is my opinion just like it is your opinion that it isn't. Though i would like you to point out a game that had a more flawless launch.
Not one, at least not one of the major titles with massive traffic rolling in on launch day. This game set the new standard for how a release SHOULD be...
Lol. Are you serious? The level 30+ dungeons on Hibernia weren't itemized at launch. Otherwise sure it was a good launch, but it was no where near a complete game.
Currently playing: LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)
Looking Foward too: Bioware games (Dragon Age & Star Wars The Old Republic)

Yeah but you also gotta look at it the way that it was one of the early mmorpgs.I assumedevelopers at least look at the past and learn from it so in that sence you should compare lotro to WoW , EQ2 , vanguard for instance.YEs it'll beat vanguard on one leg
DAOC was the best release for a MMORPG for it's time. Of course you only had UO, EQ1, and AO to compare it to. I fell through the floor of Camalot many a time and for months refused to use autorun because I would invariably run into mobs and relog in dead when the server crashed or I had a CTD. WoW was second best but now LOTRO has set even higher standards. WAR and AoC have a hell of goal if they plan on surpassing this launch.
It really has been an impressive launch for an impressive MMO. Being a bigger Star Wars fan than I am a LOTR fan, I'm jealous that Star Wars doesn't have an MMO worth a dilhole.
Hopefully the Bio-ware KoToR time-line MMo is true is all I can say. O can anyone say TRUE SITH!!!!!! O, sorry got a little over excited. None the less this looks to be a great game till something better comes out in a couple years.

Sorry to let you know bob but alas the hopes that bioware are to release a starwars game from that as of yet unnanounced title of theirs i believe is sadly dead. I was hoping there too...a great SW MMO Experience next to this awsome Middle Earth Experience would have been great.
Sadly (Or not if your a fan) i have heard the new Bioware MMORPG Title is to be based on the "Fallout" Franchise.
I did take part in the EU pre-order called early play and that was a blast. There was an incident when they discovered a problem with the SAN and brought the servers down for a short while to fix it. That was the best move they made, problem found, resolve it.
Launch day today was exceptional. Everything running, the payment/account servers screamed for mercy but as they extended Early Play it is hoped that will lessen the impact. I've just managed to complete the lifetime subscription now that the demand has eased off in the EU.
A fantastic launch. Smooth, almost bug free (never say never) and lots of excited players hopping around.
This is no different than any other MMO release. At launch ppl go nuts and it is the best thing around. As a very old Tolkien fan, it is an absolute blunder, pretty or not. Come back in 3 months and tell me how giddy you are. I have played them all over 15 years and this is not the best. I ti is a decent game, I grant t that, but it has far fallen below my expecations.

to Sonicbrew : I dont think we are argueing about game content but rather how smooth of a lunch it was compared to some of the... well... horrible launches of the past.
I have played them all over 15 years and this is not the best.
So exactly what MMo came out 15 years ago?
Well Ive played em all too.... though I wouldnt go as far as to say 15 years ago.... thats guilding the lilly somewhat....
So which MMO had a better launch ? I certainly cant think of one and I played pretty much every single one from Beta through launch and into x months from release.
LOTRO has set an extremely high standard here and even higher when you consider how bad some have been. They have managed to avoid the classic triad of launch issues being : bugs, stability and content. All of those 3 things are well under control.... not 100% perfect... but certainly 98.5%
As for DAoC..... please.... like someone else said it was a complete shell after level 25 on release. Sure it turned out to be a kickass title and I played for almost 2 years, but the launch wasnt a patch on the LOTRO.
Love this game or hate it, Turbine have raised the bar.

The bug-free launch can only get better,
Enquiring minds want to know where you got that 1.2m figure. I'm voting for thin air myself.

I never took part in beta - so it sucks to be me.
