It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!
These are the major changes, hopefully we can get a list of the rest of the changes tomorrow:
Storyteller:
Enhance your player-driven stories and adventures with a new series of props, effects, and customizable NPCs! Obtain storyteller tokens from the storyteller NPC to begin telling your story. Only those players invited by you into your story can participate. To learn more, use the storyteller button in your command browser to list all the commands!
Beast Master:
Beast Master Expertise is an exciting new feature coming to Star Wars Galaxies in Chapter 6. These are new creature-centric abilities available to all players, regardless of profession or level, through a third expertise tree. Harvest DNA from the wild, obtain/craft enzymes, and incubate your fully customizable creature! Adventure in the wilds to learn abilities and level up your pet. See the Friday Feature posted on April 20th for detailed instructions on Incubation.
Beast Incubation:
Players are limited to one active incubator unit per player. Incubators must be placed in a player structure to activate. Picking up the Incubator unit will cleanse any active experiments. The length of time between experimentation sessions is based on Incubator Functionality rating and purchased expertise boxes.
Beast Loyalty And Happiness:
Make sure your pet is kept happy through craftable foods, tricks, and planetary travels. Keeping your pet happy in the long term will enable it to learn more abilities.
Beast ToolBar:
All Beast commands that your beast is eligible for will auto populate onto the pet toolbar. Right click on an ability to make it an auto-repeating attack. The Beast will perform if it has enough action and the cool-down has expired. Two Beast dispositions on this bar toggle your pet between defending you if attacked and ignoring attacks on the master. You must have training in Beast Master to use any ability beyond ‘stay’ and ‘follow.’
Beast Leveling:
Beasts level on the master gaining combat experience. A kill must con green or higher for the Beast to gain experience. If you wish to keep your pet at their current growth level, use the radial option to toggle Beast experience gain off.
Beast Death:
If your beast perishes in combat use the "revive beast" ability granted in the first expertise box of Beast Master.
Creature Mounts:
Calling a creature mount will now place you upon its back automatically. Dismounting from a creature mount will now auto-store the mount.
Legacy Pets:
All legacy pets in player datapads now have an option to "stuff" them for display in your home. Stuffed pets may also be used in the Incubation process if you wish them to live again. Stuffed pets receive bonuses in the Incubation process.
Wild Creature Special Abilities:
Going hand-in-hand with the new Beast Master system, wild creatures have new specials attacks and combat abilities. Some of these abilities are learnable by the player when attacking these creatures. These abilities can then be trained to your Beast if they have the appropriate number of skill points and are of the correct creature type. Be wary going into the wilds!
Rebel Theme Park:
New adventures await those who work for the rebel alliance! Visit C3P0 on Corellia to begin them.
Foraging:
Foraging has been added back to Star Wars Galaxies. Currently, foraging can only give you bait for fishing.
Rules of foraging:
Treasure Maps
The major differences between this version of treasure maps and the treasure map functionality available to players at retail in 2003 are the following:
Content - Azure Cabal
Mounts/Vehicles

Obraik,
Can youexplain this "storyteller" thing? What player driven stories? What does it mean when it says only those players are invited can participate? Are we talking about some sort of customizable or player created content??? I'm just poking my head in SWG the past few days so I am a bit out of touch.
Basically, yes, it allows players to create their own content. At the moment it's restricted to being used in Player Cities.
I haven't had a chance yet to test it out yet, but alot of the things you needed a Live Event support person to do, you can actually do yourself now. Things such as spawning NPC's of a certain level, or animated events such as a ship crashing to the ground.
On another note, Torak , you a tanker?
Figures the time I cam eback to take a look around I get moved to a new shift at work. Obraik have you tested anything out so far and if so, what are your thoughts?
Torak, good to see you poke your head in.
"If we don't attack them, they will attack us first. So we'd better retaliate before they have a chance to strike"
Yeah, generally I avoid this entire SWG forum thread like the plague but Obraiks comment about the story thingy caught my attention. I'm glad to see SWG shaping up. I thought it sucked ass before NGE but thats IMHO lol. I never ran across a game that was more broken, buggy and unbalanced then this one until Vanguard launched. When I did try it a few months ago at least it worked for the mostpart which is more then you can say about it before. That should bring me some love letters.
Not sure what a Ryzom Ring or NWN editor is, so couldn't say if it's the same :P Will try get some time today to have a look at some of the stuff, apparantly in the next update the player city only restriction is being removed. Instead, for people to be able to attack (and be attacked by) the NPCs you might decide to spawn you will need to invite them to the event.
As for some other questions, if you want to test the new stuff without having to level up your character, make a character on the server called TestCenter rather then TCPrime. Testcenter has frogs that will let you level up whereas TCPrime is intended to simulate a Live server so will not have frogs. If you're not sure how to get to TC, follow this guide http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/posts/list.m?topic_id=282040
3/73 armor 82nd airborne. did a few years as an instructor at knox too.
Basically its a mod editor. You have a choice of "maps" or terrains to build on. The you add items, scenery, NPC's, Monsters, buildings, effects like fires or smoke...whatever type of placables are availible. Then you usually need to add some scripts like quest, dialog and specific tie in items. Whatever the editor allows. In the case of NWN you can put your mods out there for others to download or run them live as a GM. The NWN / NWN2 is very detailed and somewhat complex, its and actual toolset. With the Ryzom Ring, you basically create your own instance and as long as you are logged on others can use your scenario. The Ryzom ring is a bit more basic and easier to use.
Is this similar?
From what you are describing, I'm thinking its not a full "map" editor but maybe a quest editor of some sort? This really has me interested Obraik....the main thing SWG was always missing was a real feel of SW lore and excitment. This could change all of that if its what I'm hoping it is.
Had a bit of a play around with the Storyteller items on TC just before and yes, they basically let you creature your own area's using objects. There is a large variety of objects and NPC's available, along with effects, that you can place on the planets outside of NPC cities. You can move the objects around just like you can with objects in a house. For people to be a part of your event, or story as it's called, you need to invite using the / command, so you basically are creating your own instance.
You can't place any of the "iconic" characters such as Jabba or Darth Vader - those you will still need the Event Support team to do. Also, the complete set of items aren't yet on TC.
Does this apply to space as well?
Basically could I make something along the lines of a custom imperial base to play around in for what ever levels and tie in a space portion with a storyline????
I hate to keep asking you questions....you know how I am bro. Editors are basically big candy stores to me. I'm just starting to get comfortable with Ryzoms but I would definately love to take a look at a SW one.
I may have to resub to check it out. When does this ch6 go live? Are there any return specials going on?
It's only ground based unfortunately, it would be nice if they would start adding space event stuff though.
I think you should have a 14 day trial waiting for you to activate once you login with your old account info on Launchpad. Chapter 6 isn't likely to be on Live for at least another 2 weeks.
So Obriak have you had a chance to try out the new version of the Treasure Maps yet.
Also have you noticed a big difference in the AI of the NPC's? I am looking forward to having some challenge in killing things again.
Get on the falcon
I came back to the game a month ago and started a new character from level 1. This game is getting better. But I approached it with a guild and opted to do the legacy quests. I am actually having fun. I am really looking forward to chapter 6. And this is coming from a guy who hated the NGE- wtf? lol
Thanks for the info!
Nasedoo: You said traders would get a revamp under my supervision.
Darth Lord Blixtev: I am altering the deal. Pray I don't alter it any further.
I miss the good ol' days when nerds were actually intelligent.
Not a big deal, especially in light of so many positive change, but as a role player I enjoyed leaving my mount standing outside the cantina while I went inside for a drink.
