I think the Witch Hunter is a STEALTH CLASS

I could be wrong....

I think I heard it in December on the "game on" POD CAST.

There isn't going to be stealth in this game. I truly hope they aren't going against thier word on this. It would be a disappointment if they did,

Let me go ahead and dispell this little rumor:

Jeff’s preferred class will probably either be the pirate-y Witch Hunter, or one of the as-yet-unannounced Dark Elf classes.

This was taken directly from www.mmognation.com/2007/04/23/massive-online-gamer-proves-its-worth

So sorry, but stealth will not be in WAR. Mythic is trying to avoid the stealth wars as they exist in DAoC.

Witch elves will probplay like "rogues" though so never fear!

Light armor, dodge insted of parry, use daggers and swords, insted of putting drugs on your weapons for different effects you want (snare, dot, weaken) you put the drugs in your body to gain the effects you want (less damage taken but slower morale gain, higher attack speed but lower chance to hit ect)  but unlike rogues, the witchelves are frontline fighters and need to be in melee combat fighting and killing as fast as they can before their drugs wear off and they fall into a coma.

He actually said Witch Hunter Kraiden, not Witch Elves.

But yeah, if Witch Elves are a playable class, this is very close to how I'd see them working as well.

I think they are making Witchhunter more of a swordsman with pistols that builds confesstion which alows them to do even more damage.

No true Witch Hunter would use Stealth anyway - they aren't the Batman/Shadows fear generators, but the Walk into Town and make the peasants cower type of fear.  Hiding would show a fear of Witches.

Of course, game-players would use it all the time if available - so it's good they have to look all the Witches and Demons in the eye.

    There will be no stealth!

    Get over it ;)

Agree! I don't really see whats the buzz abt stealth....i've played a 70 rogue in WoW.. and i don't care whether there's gonna be stealth in WAR or not. Face it, u want stealth,  go play WoW! WAR is another game on its own, so a new game means new stuff, stealth just give people more reason to say that the game "sucks cos i always get ganked by invisible entities". Why do we all look to WoW? Even if it do come out...it probably won't be some "press button and poof i go invisible" thingy, it jus lack realism.

Notice that the whiners want stealth. Not a particular play style (namely melee DPS through agility which they CAN get). We all know why the whiners want stealth. As previous poster said, press button and poof - you are invisible. Go gank someone. It's all about ego and and dominance and easy mode and you damn well know it. WAR doesn't have a stealth class. I haven't played the paper game but I've read the books. Witch hunters are the farthest thing from a stealther. They stand in front, accuse, berate, intimidate and TORTURE.

If anyone is still complaining about stealth and the 'rouge' class, GO AWAY. You are asking for the specific mechanic (invisibility) and it ain't coming. Find one of the countless alternatives.

And, no I haven't been ganked by any tards but I've seen enough WoW 'rouges' to know that many rely on that and abuse it. The Rogue class can be played with skill and can also be abused because of the inherent aberrant and drastic nature of such a mechanism. It's just a shame that such a comparatively large percentage of the player base uses the class for abuse or ego reasons.

I don't think anyone complained about a lack of stealth classes in this thread. The topic creator was only stating that he thought the WItch Hunter would be a stealth class (as misguided a notion as that may be), not that he wanted stealth classes. I feel exactly as you do about "stealthers," but I think the way you put it is likely to elicit flames from the very people you're hoping will stay away from the board.

I have seen them and I have seen very creative ways to try to get around to the point of the need for 'stealth'. Aside from which, anyone thinking that the witch hunter could be a stealth class hasn't studied the IP. They are just looking at the 'coolness' or the leather coat and making assumptions.

Stealth is different from camo or hiding.

There may be no active stealth as in walking around in plain daylight while being completely invisible.. but they never mentioned anything about races or certain classes being able to hide, even for a limited amount of time as a defensive tactic.  I wouldn't be able to find anything broken with a limited hide ability, as long as you couldn't move or attack out of it.  You could gain no advantage other than a scouts information.

I also remember shadow-step abilities from WoW and GW.

My theory cannot be proven wrong.  There is no evidence.  =P

That's the beauty of it, us Witch Hunters don't need any evidence to declare you wrong and burn you at the stake!

So what kind of charcoal are you into, heretic?

Very funny, though unless you are actually in the beta and breaking the NDA, you have no proof.  Since there is no such thing as a Witch Hunter in real life.. you can't burn me at the stake either.  I win.

What makes him unable to burn you at the stake..?

I had a L40 Ranger in DAoC and loved playing him. In Pvp he was great at keeping casters at a distance and helping damage a group before they make it to you.

If you were unprotected, you got stealth/shot. If you had an assasin class scouting for you... I was generally found and disposed of.

You guys crack me up when you talk about stealth classes as "kiddie classes" and "gank classes". They are mearly another aspect of the game which made you adjust, adapt and overcome. Get over it... most people have.

I would, however , love to see a stealth class that actuall uses skill to use. For example: Ranger classes sticking to tree cover and underbrush shadows to keep stealth... not in the middle of a low cut grass field.  You could use a combination of skill points and user skill to keep yourself hidden.
