Ranking on MMORPG.COM

hi

I just saw the rankings of released game the other day as Guildwars and EQ2 at 1 &2 spot at 8.3. And the next day LOTR became 1 at 8.5 and all the other games became 8.0. How can the rankings change so drastically? I'm just a bit puzzled...

When people like a game they can vote for it , I guess so many people like LOTRO, the votings changed.

Would it be correct/safe to say that those who like LOTRO voted the other games down?

Which basically proves the point that arbitrary scores are only food for the foolish.

I agree. MMORPG ratings only prove popularity, not necessarily game quality. And judging from recent activity, it seems they're having a feast. :)

I can understand when LOTR just came out ppl who like the game voted alot and the score went up. But why did other games' scores go down? do ppl really vote them down??

the lotro fanboi is a bit of a fanatic, they post on other forums talking bad about other games, then when a perfectly good review of their game comes in they cry because lotro didnt get 10/10, lotro is better than none of those top ranking games....how exciting, turbine decided to make wow with a lotr skin...great innovative thinking on their part.

I think this site should explain this; actually the other non-LOTRO scores were all 7.9 yesterday.  It almost seems that either the high LOTRO adversely affected the other scores or this site has changed their scoring methodology.  What's up MMORPG.COM?

The MMORPG.COM scores have always done this.

I suspect that the scoring method is more complex than a simple tallying and averaging. When a new game comes around things tend to get off balance for a few days but always come back.

Give it a bit and things will be back to normal soon.

The conspiracy theorists will say that there are secret groups that vote random games down in massive attacks, and then other groups that vote them back up in a never ceasing war. I say they they are nuts :P There is no epic vote war, its just the numbers adjusting to make room for the new games.
