Vanguard is getting better with every patch

AtheaAthea Member UncommonPosts: 79

Although Vanguard: SoH had a rough start, it is getting a lot better.  The new patch that was implemented on April 25 improved graphics, sounds, and many bugs.  Many of the skills now have better graphics, ones that actually look good.  I am definitely a supporter of Vanguard SOH.

I think that with the great development team that Vanguard has in the speed that they deploy patches will definitely make a better game.

Although I agree for the most part, client stability & performance seem to be getting worse. I hope they fix these things sooner, rather then later. Otherwise, it will cost them players.

    Overall, they do amazing work.

I'll start my own SWG... with Black Jack... and Hookers!!!

    In fact, forget the SWG!!!!

If Sigil can fix the main game and release a solid expansion then Vanguard might have a chance...  All the pieces to make a great MMO are there, they just need to be put in place...

Vanguard actually reminds me a lot of SWG when it first came out... It's a huge world where you can do pretty much anything you want... Where as games like WOW, LOTRO and others are more linear, all you really have is adventuring as crafting is nothing more then something to screw around with since items made will never compare to those you can loot, which is why you have people complaining about how bored they are with the game... In WOW's case the main reason people stay with the game is because of the social aspect of it, all there friends are there...   LOTRO is trying to duplicate WOW's success, but I doubt it will break 1 Million players, odds are it will probably settle in around 500k or less.... Only a guess tho...

So you go to the Yugo dealership and buy a brand new car.  When it arrives it doesn't have it's breaks installed, is missing the seats, is half painted and so forth.  For 3 months you keep taking it back to the dealership and getting things installed and fixed.  Eventually, one day, you finally get everything working right.  Then.. as you're driving out of the dealers parking lot the reality hits you.  You just spent 3 months of hell and in the end you're still driving a Yugo.

I have to agree, the patches are making a difference. Still lots of work to be done however.

And our are the nth number of poster who refers to buying a car. If I would grow tired of the game tomorrow all I have to do is uninstall/cancel as it didn't cost THAT much. A game you could actually just play a few hours and throw away, a car you don't.

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

Honestly, if you hate VG, why are you here?  There are people that enjoy the game.  Is that so hard  to stand?  I could probably understand if you said something like "Why play Vanguard?  EQ2 is extremely similar, but more polished.  You should give EQ2 a try."  But you're basically saying "You shouldn't play Vanguard, because I think it's lame.  Please come join me and all the other haters who spend their time flaming people on random forums because we can't find a good MMO to fill our massive amounts of spare time."

Seriously, the OP is correct.  Vanguard is getting better and better with each patch.  Brad & Co made a mistake with priority.  They tried to make a game that's too massive, leaving little time for polish before their funds ran out.  The bright side of this, however, is that Vanguard IS massive.  It has some extremely cool features.  Once all the bugs are worked out and people can enjoy these features, VG will really be something great.

YOU blocking someone? And for being ignorant?? BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Look at  your frikkin post history man! As far as ignorance goes, you certainly know the territory.

And she's right, Vanguard does get better every patch, and the devs are working hard. Thanks Sigil Devs, your efforts do not go unnoticed.

Yes, Vanguard did have a rough start, and it was not a suprice either.

I don't know how many here actually read the post from VG devs about the early release n' such, but i does seem that a ridiculously huge amout of players missed that. Looks like many jumped into the game with the highest of hopes and no information. I actually do feel a little sorry for them

    for those uninformed

(I do recommend reading that post, it's a good one)

Anyway i think i speak up for more players than me, and those are the ones waiting for the game to be "fully" (like thats possible for an mmo xD) polished. The game has great potentials and have a fresh feeling to it. I also feel a bit relieved when seeing the enormous patch notes (that means Sigil does their homework right?)

Anyway, see ya ingame in a couple of months!

    ps: please dont flame me

I've always called statements like this a Blinding Glimpse of the Obvious.

No offense, but we all know that Vanguard released in an unfinished state, with hundreds upon hundreds of bugs. OF COURSE IT'S GOING TO GET BETTER WITH PATCHES. How obvious is that? If a game released near perfect, then you could debate endlessly about patches fixing things, but with a game that was at most 70% done, if a patch gets it 75% done, it's pretty damn noticeable.

The real question, is how many patches, and how long will it take for Vanguard to be considered to be in a respectable release state? Dont get me wrong, I'm sure for some folks it's a playable, enjoyable game right now, but I think it would be extremely limited to suggest that VG is in that state for the entire audience that they want to market the game to.

Get out of this forum, you have no business being in here, clearly the games you are playing are lacking if you feel the need to come down here. Sad really sad lol

Typical SOE approach to gaming. They basically release a game that needed 3 more months of beta and then let the player base finnd the bugs, exploits. Creating frustation and charging money for people to BEtA test their game it simple outrageous.

Wake up people and dont ake this crap. Demand an almost finished game before it ships. Extreme patching (SOE forte) is basically maknig a broken class uber one day and then nerf them again when they realize wtf they were doing. It is trully pathetic.
