Do anyone think if it's possible to make a MMORPG, MMOFPS to be televised by major cable TV network

Imagine 500+ players massive group castle raid or 360+ Sung clanites crashing with another 360+ Marvin Horde in digitized plain battle field in full glory.... And a certain Overlord captures the whole spectacle with edited caption on Live Network Broadcasting ....

Can this feat come to reality?

Do you think something of this nature could even be brought to TV audience as weekly televised tournament serie with narrative?

Or is this just one's fantasy?

Say someone puts in draft such plan, then throws in some spin to the idea and is about to make it happen. In such case, how a MMORPG or MMOFPS should be designed to be any relevant to fit the time slot assigned by  a given cable network?

Televised game tournament show is a reality in Asia. There are large sum of money associated with it. There are sponsors paying hundreds of thousands dollards to each professional players for each tournament.  There are hardcore grassroot community dedicating themselve to this new medium of entertainment to even an alarming level.

But they are all largely limited to multi instance of one-on-one matchs. So it naturally occured to me to ask myself can something like this be done with MMORPG or MMOFPS?

What do you think?

Here are few examples of televised tournament shows (not all necessarily associated with video games)  that some of you are already aware of  ...

give it about another 10 years but it will be coming for sure. Just look at gamers like Fatal1ty who already make a good living doing nothing but playing games. What needs to happen first though is that the old guys in charge whose concept of gaming doesn't expand past minesweeper and solitaire, need to retire. Once people take over that are/were gamers themselves, then you'll see things happening.
