For the 3rd time in a week, all the European servers have been down for hours. The current downtime is now running close to 19 hours.
This is starting to look more and more like the fiasco that SOE had when UbiSoft was running the European servers for EQ/EQ2.
And to add insult to injury, those of us playing on non US servers cannot even use the Turbine LOTRO forums.
The US servers have already announced the patch for tomorrow, yet the Euro servers cannot even get the LAST patch to work.
It's deja vu all over again.

I am starting to see that. I debated whether to go with a US sub, having seen all the problems that SOE had with UbiSoft - with patches running as much as 4 months behind the US servers, and several times the downtime from crashes that the US servers had.
It is starting to look like my fears were justified.
Anyway hope you can get back to play any time soon!

The first time they were down over 24 hours. The 2nd "only" about 16 hours. The downtime for this patch is now running over 20 hours, and still gettng the "gee we're sorry, but ..." message when I try to login. And I see that the US servers have another patch scheduled for tomorrow.. the Euro servers cannot even get today's patch to work.
I am in the US but I finally decided to go with a Euro server because most of my friends from my old guild are there. It is looking more and more like a mistake.
And I find it insulting that those using the Euro servers cannot even access the Turbine forums.
Euro servers finally up again.. after only 21 hours.
Turbine is not the problem. The Turbine (US) servers have gone almost without a hitch.
Codemasters is running the servers in Europe. I just hope this does not turn out to be another fiasco like the SOE/UbiSoft thing was. Another patch in 6 days, so we will see if they can do it in less than 24 hours this time.
50 hours downtime in the first 6 days is not a good start.
I hope codemasters recognise this and cash us some free days !

They sayed it 1st time that there is big problem with loggin service and they making "temporary" sollution for it. So till it realy fixed ( it didnt happans yet ) i expecting even more downtime...
Still its poor job from CM not to fix this.
About 2 week late patch... /speachless
hmm comming to think if this could mean we get June context patch in July... then i will be realy angry.

I posted my concerns just a few days into the pre order launch of EU servers after the almost 1 day it was offline and was met with "its beta(hello its not .its early access" and "everything is cool".
The reality of it is the LOTRO engine is one of the most solid engines ever build in a mmorpg .But codemasters have done a terrible terrible job handling it.Its like putting a 10 year old in the seat of a ferrari and watching him make the vechile scream on gear 1.
This guys have poor knowledge of how to handle things and constantly have issues. Also they have included too few servers which means they are overcrowded and a few like shadowbun and evernight are basically crumpling under the pressure .
Login issues are so numerous that its best to actually count the time it is stable rather then unstable.
I went for the 6 months plan because i plan to cancel if codemaster do not get their act together by time my free month is over.
I miss DAoC
So far i havent missed any play time as i dont get to even log in until after 9pm at night but i can understand the frustration of other players. I wouldnt imagine turbine will be too happy at codemasters handling of this as it reflects bad on them aswell!
Yeah, now it was the 4th time, and exactly on those hours when most of us casuals would want to play (btw 7-10 PM).
I have missed a whole session yesterday that i have carefully planned to have (as I can't play every day...). Dang.
I found myself playing Guild Wars as at this point I have no other subscriptions for any MMO besides LOTRO...

Turbine is not free from guilt, they hired Codemasters for this job, I surely hope they put some pressure on them! I do think a permanent fix will come pretty soon though, my guess is that the game is a lot more popular than Codemasters anticipated and they pay for not being prepared. Once they get the correct size of their server park we should be alright in Europe as well.
