It means I have blocked healz4u who is obviously a viral poster employee of Sigil Games. He states VG is the current most solo friendly game out there, what a croc after level 20! He accuses others of lying, we have Brad's apology to prove there is problems with the game, but he denies any problems exist. Many of us pointed out SOE would eventually end up with control of the game, and they will, though Brad is intentionally vague about it, another thing the Vanbois said would never happen (lol) and we can pull up their posts about this. The core gamer is someone the casual players despise being involved with, we move servers in WoW to get away from them an option not available in little tiny niche games. See FoH posters lamenting the server moves by players, well we don't want to be on your server! A raider has been given to much and the casuals will not tolerate it anymore!
I will say it again, Brad sold out EQ1, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me! Don't buy what the snake charmer is selling, and the post about the roleplayers bailing from affiliated sites proves the meglomaniacs at Sigil will stifle free speech and freely trample on the gamers and want to control the sites! Brad is attempting to make sure anything coming out about the game is falsely rosey covering up any mistakes he made himself! The game was released early with obvious bugs as stated by the Dev in charge and that seems okay with him.
In other words, in the early levels Vanguard was the most solo-friendly game on the market at its release. However, today, it is not only the most solo-friendly game in the early levels but all-levels; if this were not true, I would not be subscribed to the game. In fact, i would be bashing it.
Odd, I'd say there's quite a few Guild Wars, and CoX players that would avidly disagree with you. Probably the same could be said for WoW, or Shadowbane players as well.
I'd have to agree there are alot more solo friendly games then VG even or especially at the early levels, ie. CoH, WoW, LoTRO.
So either healz4u really hasn't played many MMORPG's in the last 8 years or simply he/she is lying. Of course I guess one could also just say that of ease of play is a mater of opinion in which case Healz4 you would have to unblock most of those he/she has blocked which she precieved as lying. For surely he/she wouldn't just block people for having a different opinion That would be hatefull
I don't know, there is a lot of nuts on this site that are hateful and hurtful, especially when they get to arguing about a virtual world that they will never really have any control over/shrugs.
I think this game will eventually get players in maybe a year from now (when the VSOH NGE hits). I for one cancelled eventhough, I somewhat enjoy the game's crafting and harvesting aspects (even this is borderline boring and a grind fest), also I think he underestimated the power of how many true power players are out there playing MMOS (his core people), it seems that the true casual folks out number the power players not many people sit in their "Spiderman pajamas" playing MMOS all day (man gotta eat, work ans sleep you know).
I have to tell you I really think most of you Vanguard-haters/trolls are not worth even trying to acknowledge let alone respond to. I have found that trying to be reasonable and respond to some (many?) of your posts enables or feeds you.
If I my integrity is going to be questioned (the very concept offends me) then I will just block the poster.
In regards to solo content, I am not referring to what is "easy" solo content; I am referring to solo content that is meaningful and fun. It is fun when it is enjoyable (interesting mobs, fascinating Quests, and so forth). Meaningful means that the content is apart of the games lore and reward is not nominal.
I hope the above is helpful, but I will do my best to avoid enabling and feeding Vanguard-haters/trolls. If you want to have an honest, truthful, and reasonable discussion like civilized people, I look forward to discussing the current state of the game with you. We do not have to agree but the finger-pointing such as "van-boi" or "shrill" or "SIGIL employee" is dishonorable, disrespectful, and I frankly will try my best to neither enable nor feed such mudslinging.
Reminder: You are not hurting Vanguard. Your mudslinging and vitriol is hurting MMORPG.
The current state of the game is disastrous by the goals of the company, which were "being a game for everybody". Things in this business are about providing what was announced - Period. Announced was a "game pretty much serving everybody". And it's not. It's excluding most of the players that were turned on by the speeches and announcments of sigil. That's the whole secret, nobody wants or even needs objective reference - The game failed to serve those that were interested in it, and screwed up launch-day big time.
Its the same mechanism that hit Dark and Light, or on a smaller scale, Everquest 2... It's like the most simple commercial, I announce a new washing machine that does your laundry in 10 minutes and cleaner than other products. I attract people who need and like the products specifications. I release.
It does what was announced = it gets a good rep and will be a successful product.
I can make it look like it did what was announced = it gets a good rep and will be a successful product.
I fail to deliver or fail to deceive = It gets a bad rep and a downward spiral will make it mediocre at best.
Thats the basic of the basic of marketing, nobody wants hard facts or honesty. People want to have their expectations fulfilled. Period.

And I'm sorry, but after spending 3+ years in CoH/V, finding any non-aggro mobs at the lowest levels is silly. From the very beginning in CoH/V, if an enemy sees you, they're going to attack. If they have friends around them, they're all going to attack you at once. If you don't pay attention to your surroundings and you wander into the aggro range of another group while fighting the first one, that second one will also attack.
I like it that way. It's fun, and really lets me test out any power combinations I'm wanting to try. Plus, it forces the player to start thinking of things like strategy and tactics at the lowest levels in the game.
A bunch of mobs standing around blankly while I kill their buddy? That's boring, and there's zero challenge in that. Feh.
Where was you playing and to wich level, honestly?
The Dark Elves, the Raki, the Varanjar, and the Half Elves were the races I played to any level, and I got past the immediate newbie yards in all of them. My highest characters were the Half Elf and the Raki, and they got to around 11 or 12. The others got to around 8 or 9.
Does VG have aggro mobs? Sure. Every game does. But they also had, in my experience, very boring newbie areas that offered nothing in the way of challenge, since the mobs just stood there while you killed them, or popped right back when you looted.
Well in the end that is not that typical behaviour for just Vanguard so why try make it a point against Vanguard. You had it in WoW, did that reflect/biase you opinion on that game for instance.
Just pointing that you noted the mobs in Vanguard but not in the other games, as lower levels are piss easy done whatever the game.

You, sir, are the epitome of infantile, argumentative behavior. At best you are the troll you claim to loathe.
On the bright side, now that you've "blocked" everyone, the rest of us can safely ignore you, and get on discussing the game like actual adults, even.
Edit: FYI, the words fun, and meaningful are pretty subjective, but again, I'd hazard a guess that the players of GW, CoX, and WoW would argue that their games solo content would be equally, if not more, fun based on the criteria you provided. Shadowbane is probably out, as the other players are the content, though there is a wealth of lore available on the game, if one is inclined to read it.

It was easier to note the behavior in Vangaurd because of the glaring issues I had with the overall design of the world. Even at the highest settings, which I could play on, I didn't like the way the game looked. I still don't, no matter how many screenshots are trotted out around here. If anything is going to hurt MMORPGs it will be a game that was released in a half-assed state including the failings of the hype that came before it and then somehow manages to become successful, giving the idea to developers that half-assed products are ok, as long as you hype them accordingly.
Luckily for MMORPGs VG did not become a success to most players.
Was VG meant to? Who knows anymore.
To the people that enjoy VG, I am happy for you, however most people do not care either way. Most people are looking to the future, including myself, still hoping however that VG kicks into a higher gear and does not run out of petrol too soon, the chances of this happening are so slim unfortunately.
healz4u try not to get all hot and heavy over a site that caters to a lot of different people and a lot of different games. Healz4U: As there is still no clear definition of "core-gamer", I cannot apply this term to any specific gaming behaviour. So I will judge the game by what it was announced (and no, I don't have sources for this, its the essence of what I myself understood while reading FAQs and Interviews)
- Having elements for all player types
- Including original, meaningful races and exciting new combat possibilities
- Being easy to play, hard to master
- Providing world-affecting new features such as diplomacy and politics
- Being a product that plays well with tweaking on many different systems
Correct me if I'm biased and a hate-boy - But none of these features have been provided without serious streching of their common meaning. Sure, you can solo grind mobs to level, you could call wolf-people original and you could call a faction-card-game innovative... But as I said before, you either fail to provide or fail to deceive and your server-population will pay the price...
...So healz4u, from adult to adult. Tell me in all honesty that the game delivers what it promised... (!?)

Meridion
Actually, Meridion, to clear the air, I have always respected you and enjoy reading your comments. From adult to adult, I think we both know that there is rampant harassment and flaming from Vanguard-trolls whom no-longer play the game and whose only interest is to attack individuals who do. I cherish discussion (it is why I use MMORPG!). Nevertheless, I feel compelled to challenge the rampant flaming, trolling, and abuse of these forums.
I am not a Vanguard-defender/attacker, although I have found that people think I am trying to assume that role. No, my Friend, I am simply trying to point out that a lot of "analysis" and commentary in this Vanguard section on MMORPG reflects the game's BETA and early release condition. Goodness, imagine if Vanguard did not change when I resubscribed (on a whim)? I would be bashing the game without mercy.
Elements (Content) for All Player Types
Solo
My impression, if you are referring to solo and group and raid content, is that they have achieved this. However, I am reluctant to discuss this in-depth until I have more experience since I have resubscribed. The game does cater to solo players because it provides solo tasks, Quests, epic Quests, and missives. Missives are an opportunity to complete "tasks" repeatedly to advance your character and obtain very rare and high quality items. I think it is a reasonable and intelligent (but also important) in-game feature to ensure adventurers have opportunities to efficiently advance their characters and obtain meaningful rewards. I consider myself a "hardcore" soloist (a term coined by a MMORPG member) and believe that most soloists would be satisfied, sometimes overwhelmed, with the options for content in Vanguard.
Group
The game has a heavy small-group orientation, I believe, and small-group is defined as 2 to 4 group-members. The numerous dungeons and Quests in Vanguard without question makes a meaningful and fun (subjective) game for groupers. As for myself, I enjoy grouping in Vanguard because there is so much content and I do not need the old-group dynamic (tank, healer, dps) but have managed just as well with just 2 healers.
Raid
The company (SIGIL) to my knowledge is adding raid content into the game as I write this. The demand for it, my impression, is quite strong and widespread. I am personally not a raider, but I am encouraged how they will try to avoid zerg-raiding and most-likely limit the raid cap to around 24 people. I believe raids will consist of 6 to 24 people and be much more skill-oriented than zerg-raids that many of us are accustomed to in MMORPGs in regards to raid content.
"Being a [Game] that Plays Well"
The games requires a powerful PC. However, MY performance has improved drastically. I actually only lag when I am near crowded cities. For example, usually Southwatch is very crowded on my server; there is usually more than 40-people in that area so I cannot provide an exact number because the list truncates at 40. Nevertheless, based on my experience in dungeons and in full-groups, I have not lagged but only in cities such as the town of Southwatch. Many (most) of the bugs have been corrected. Some bugs still exist such as a targeted mob vanishing, but if you move your character it usually will appear. Edit: by the way, if you were to begin playing now, your PC (all PCs) will lag more the first time you visit new areas. I am not sure why this is the case, but it simply does that. Thereafter, you will not have that problem. I have heard they want to change the engine considerably or something like that to get people on lower-end PCs to play the game. Second Edit: I do not like the term "lower-end"(I think it is a bit demeaning) PC but I mean a PC that has recent and the latest technology components.
My friend, I plan to provide a full report for this community that is fair, objective, unbiased, and truthful. I am not (and never will) please some Vanguard-haters and Vanguard-lovers. My report will be aimed toward neither Vanguard-hater or Vanguard-lover but people interested in: what improvements have (or have not) been made - and what is the game like now?
