Business Vista + Gaming?

healz4uhealz4u Member Posts: 1,065
Hello.

I just received a copy of 32-bit Business Vista and I am considering upgrading it on my PC.  However, does anyone have experience with this operating system and gaming?

I am wondering if I should upgrade to Business Vista from XP?

Less importantly, is anyone familiar with Dx10 in terms of 32-bit or 64-bit Vista operating system?

Thank you in advance.

The only thing your missing with Vista business is the media center.  It''s not different than any other addition as far as gaming goes.  Before you upgrade though list your hardware, and I'll let you know if you've got the right equipment for it.

DX10 is a Vista tech, but should really not be any different between the 32 and 64 bit additions.  Stick with 32 bit as it will be sometime before 64 bit is ready for consumer use.

As far as Vista and Gaming goes, there will be a lot of stuff that wont work with Vista.

I still have not run across this issue.  I have installed multiple games and have not had an issue with any except for Neverwinter Nights (and I have not tried it since the first night I got the computer which was the first night for Vista).  I know there are some issues out there, but there are also a lot of work arounds, running in admin mode or running in XP mode.

I am not a Vista fanboi, I just have not had any problems at all with it and it continues to be very stable.

Thank you, n25philly, and others for your helpful responses.

    Here is my system:

    BIOS:  Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG

    AMD Athlon(tm) 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 4600+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs)

    2046 MB RAM

    NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX

    SoundMAX HD Audio

    80gb 10k RPM

By the way, I do not use an a separate sound card, and if I purchased one would it improve gaming performance?

    Thanks again!

Why get business? Just get Home premium

If it's for running Vanguard, I dont even think an OS overhaul will fix it

I received Business Vista as an upgrade to WIndows Professional.  I received, essentially, a free copy of Vista Business.

Actually, Enigma, it has probably shocked me more than you, but Vanguard currently runs perfectly on my system.  The only time I lag is very slightly in crowded cities.  At the time of release, I found the game to be unplayable (I even bashed and flamed it).  However, Vanguard since release has fixed most bugs, drastically improved performance (at least on my system), and added content - a lot of group and solo content and they are currently adding raid content.

The game is very different from release not only in terms of performance but content, I have found.

By the way, Enigma (or anyone else), will I be able to use direct x10 with Business Vista, do you know?  I heard, perhaps read, somewhere that to use dx10 you need a 64-bit operating system.

    Thanks in advance!
