I must say this, I had no intention in playing LoTRO. Believe me.. What got me hooked was the fact that Tubine was offering a $9.99 a month mmo if you pre-ordered or $199 lifetime.. Thats a hell of a deal on anytime type of MMORPG released now.
Anyways too the point, I played LoTRO, couldnt quite grasp it at 1st, I went in thinking this is going to be a waste of time.. Well what do you know.. After trying every class out and only getting to level 7 with each, I found myself now thinking, this is'nt so bad.
I leveled a toon to level 12 and started to see how LoTRO started to have alot of MMORPG compilations in it and not just World of Warcraft. It starts having its own type of appeal. Deeds/Traits (this one is big) this is what makes your character different than others on the server. Your just not leveling to 50, your also leveling your SKILLS. This is awesome! .. Hell anyone can level to 50 in this game, but if you take the time to understand that this game does have potential and it starts showing its own magic when you start hitting the late teens of the game.
Graphics are great, Gameplay is smooth, but has its latency moments. Very populated world with lots of players. The instances(which there are different kinds) <Only Player Instance> <Group Instance> and <Open World Instance>. The instances from a level 19 aspect are awesome. When I got into a Raid group, its like being in a Movie while doing the Instance... The ground shakes, walls explode with NPCS jumping at ya, debris from the ceiling falling on you and battling the badies at the same time. And this was only BOOK 1 Chapter 1 thru 11.
Anyways, as the subject says, alot of people are to quick to judge, but looking at the majority of people playing it and the reviews on this game already are impressive. I have not see a really bad review on this game yet from any reputable publisher.
Good luck if you play this game or not, I am having a blast and thats all that should matter.. Or as the saying goes, Different Strokes for Different Folks.
Just a couple links which looked pretty cool... But definetly was in Beta.. However, anytime you Frap something, you never see it quite well.. lol

Bewicked,
Glad to hear you are enjoying the game. I am too, and I'm no fanboi (i think thats how they spell it). You are right, 10 bucks a month is a good deal for a mmorpg nowadays. I went with the lifetime deal.
I picked the lifetime deal cause I get bored every couple of months and take a break for a month or two. So it will be nice to just take a break and not have to worry about subs when I decide to play again. I also believe there will be alot more content added to this game, and hopefully the game will make it 2 years. I think it will.
I didn't get into lotro atfirst either. I was in the beta but never did play until April 23rd. I guess being tired of my prievous game and maybe from burnout I decided to preorder. Worked out nice, preordered the special edition and pretty happy. Well the special edition map was cheesy, the dvd on the making of the game was pretty good.
I was playing lotro now, but not alot, just trying to be casual. I had a lot of mixed thoughts, but then it hit me. Doing the barrows and old forest, I just had a blast. The chapter 10/11 quests. It sold me. I'm not going to spoil things for others, but man it was fun for me.
Is the game perfect? no, but it just has something about it that I just enjoy. So now I have a level 20, but been playing on my warq the last few nights I've played. Well I'm rambling, the bottom line Bewicked is that we are enjoying ourselves and having some fun, and thats what its all about.
