How does LOTR compare with EQ2 and/or WoW?

Hi guys, im thinking to change mmorg and i am wondering if LOTR is a good alternative.

can anyone give me feedback? here is my profile.

I played WoW for 6 monthes, but i quit bevause i didnt like it. (i liked graphics, but game was so simple for me, and PVP was unbalanced)

i moved to EQ2 and i am still playing. Its not the game of my dreams but I like its crafting sphere and the deep of contents.

I have tried wanguard but I quit because i consider it still betaand my favourite game was (and probably is) UO.

can anyone compare LOTR with any of those games?

ty a lot for the help

You won't like LotRO. LotRO are geared for people tired of "hardcore" gaming and just want Rp and play casually . Forgot, and want to have fun , oooeooo mmo playwers just wanna , just wanna , just wanna have fun~~~~~~~~~~

I also played WoW (about a year), and I have a curent EQ2 account.  I just started LoTR, and kinda like it. I'm still getting use to how the game works (only been playing 2 days), but it is pretty fun.

I shoot for the curve... anything above that is gravy.

LOTRO is a PvE game, with a hint of PvP (Monster Player vs. Free People Player) included for a change of pace.

The game is actually designed for people that have real lives, and can't devote 20 hours or more a week to raiding, etc.

Most of the people playing the game are there just to have fun, not to try and impress others with their uber-leetness.

Which is a good thing because you won't meet many kids. I'm playing on an RP-realm and I have not met one true 1337-kid. The game works against this too by not having super goofy sparky sparkly equip and the community is tight enough to blast-flame non-RP-comments instantly... which is a good thing imo...

That describes LOTRO perfectly IMO.  I honestly didn't know what a casual game was until I started playing LOTRO.  I had a tendency to obsess with a game and play it as often as I possibly could (Lol...ducking RL responsibilities at times.)  I find this to be a refreshing change.  Instead of grinding higher levels as fast as I possibly could, I tend to take my time....level up several characters....some questing...some crafting...some exploring...I do enjoy this change of pace.

I used to play other games like that but the instant response from the community, more subtile than explicit was "lol noob, omg still lvl 15 lolololerz" or, very popular "rolf, look@ur gear suxxx" - which never bothered me (my ignore list just grew, and grew, and grew) but made it hard to find people to socialize with... That's not the case in LotRO, and thats just perfect for me...

This is a very good game for a casual player or a hardcore player there is a few hardcore players in my kinship i think one is at level 39 now. So this game can fit anyones play style also if you like group play there is plenty of it. I also agree the armour isnt all fancy which it shouldnt be we are talking middle ages here there isnt flames coming from my armor like wow or something. But dont take me wrong here im not dissing wow but all the fancy armor isnt appealing to me but maybe kids it does. I also agree there isnt a bunch of snobby people running around going man your a noob wow your gear sucks man learn to play i havent heard one person dis on anyone in this game except when their kidding around and they tell the other person this. So if i were you play this game and have some fun because thats what this game is made for. Thank you "Bows"

Ive been playing EQ2 for 3 years and still am.  Ive recently started LoTRO and am really liking it.

I see LoTRO as basically EQ2 with a better story, better world (design) and better immersion.

I still play EQ2 for raiding and dont plan to quit.  LoTRO is just plain fun though.  Cant wait to try out the PvP in LoTRO too.

Am I the only one that wishes that LotRO had stayed Middle Earth Online? Well, aside from me and all the people that left after the change in development direction.

LOTRO is really nothing at all like EQ2 its more like a decent blending of WoW with a small helping of EQ for flavor. It is very well done and solid running with just enough flair to be enjoyable.

Why are people who dislike something automatically classified as "trolls"?  For some reason, especially in the gaming community, the opinion of others are ignored or slagged if they do not match one's own.

I found LOTRO bland, small, and repetitive.  If others derive enjoyment from it, great.  I, however, will be waiting for the next batch of MMOs.
