Also decapitations seem to fall under inovative fighting in a way. A major draw for the MMO for me comes with its M rating but that M rating is derived from the raw and imaginative combat that is advertised to be in the game. It'll be interesting to see the final product ;-)
In the long run its for the player build citys, but its the new combat feature that make me choose it over everthing else. Just the thought to not only have to sit and puch hotkeays makes me happy
I don't want to play it but that doesn't mean I am not very excited for it to come out. Now maybe all the rapists will have something to play and leave us "Carebears" alone. Really excited about Darkfall for the same reason.
I could care less about the lore and the setting blah blah blah. For me its the fresh concept of realtime combat. Finally an MMO that is adressing one of the most tired and dreary aspects of current games and trying to make it more engaging.
I will give it a try and i think a lot of others will as well due to just this one thing.
Critical thinking is a desire to seek, patience to doubt, fondness to meditate, slowness to assert, readiness to consider, carefulness to dispose and set in order; and hatred for every kind of imposture.
I'll definately try to get the name Bronan when this comes out. I tried for Frondo (which was a funny spelling error in one of the paperback editions of the fellowship I remember that cracked me up) with the lotro beta but it was already taken
The combat system and the fact that the game is pvp focused...
Actually the game will have a great PVP aspect, but it is intended to be a good balance between PVP and PVE with players deciding what they want to do.
Yes it will have an inovative combat system and will make it somewhat twitch style to play. However I hope that doesnt entice to many kids to the game who's nuts just dropped yesterday and can only talk in Doodspeak. I hope they wait for Warhammer.
What makes me want to play AOC is the wide open possibilities that the Hyborian lore can give. Unlike the limiting 4 or 5 books of LOTR, the world of Conan is comprised of over 80 books, decades of official comics and a couple movies. I'll also be looking forward to adventuring in a world that is lacking dwarves, elves and other Tolkienesque foppery.
For me it is the real time combat, or more importantly the way the game seems to seek to change the current MMO paradigm of pushbutton-hotbar fighting where most all combat is decided by what you bring to the fight and not what you do in the fight. I am sick of the current MMO generation where I feel I am steering the car instead of really driving it.
The first thing that caught my eye was the "M" rating. What? A "Mature" MMO? Nah...can't be. You mean, breasts AND blood? Nah...nobody's gonna do that. Then came the crafting, which I'm hoping will be deep and complex enough to differentiate tradesmen. Doing the first 20 levels solo following a story seems like a mighty good idea too. And Funcom...I like their stuf and their dedication to their games.
Then, reality set in. Oh. FPS style combat. Drat. Non-consentual PvP. Drat. All the stuf I'm terrible at. Drat. Maybe Crom will send these aging reflexes and poor eyes a revitilization so I can be young again. Wait...then I'd be too young for the "M" rating.
Am definitely looking forward to AoC. I'm going to try it out in spite of my reservations that I'll spend most of my time working off whatever the death penalty is for being griefed to tears. And with my newly rebuilt rig (Core2Duo, NX8800GTX, 2 gigs, X-Fi), I should be able to enjoy the graphical goodness. I just hope I'm not always on my back looking up at the sky or a "You have died" screen with a 13-yr-old's "Noob, I pwn'd joo" superimposed on my retinas.

Good game but is it posible for me to actualy view some gameplay and get info like who will provide the worlds severs and how much will they charge. Will there be good in game service, and can the penicle of sucess actualy be obtained with in a year?
To me its the mature rating that they are going for. It will keep some kids out, and will hopefully be more free creatively since there will be no language, violence, or sexual boundries.

Hopefully PvP is not too controlled and item based, FFA server would defintly be a plus.
-Currently looking forward to FFXIV
-Currently playing EvE and Global Agenda

Wow the question should be "what doesent want to make you play AOC?" Everything looks PERFECT.
Waiting for: Archeage, Darkfall 2.0, and Planetside 2.

TO AoC OR NOT TO AoC THAT IS THE QUESTION
