My thoughts, previously WoW/SWG/GW/VG player.

First of all, I do not like this game! there its been said, now lets move on.

I bought this game, it sounded interresting, fun and surely a nice game environment!.

Though when I logged in I got sadly dissapointed, I saw only a few players running around (jumping on tables, RP server? odd -.-', even Argent Dawn-EU in WoW is not like that, anyway lets move on), I was really confused about the game itself, it was too... smooth somehow, still something was raw (it was like in GW were when you use a skill, you stop up suddenly to use it, and no, its not my laptop that is crappy, I was running on medium, actual you can check my laptop speccs on www.xfire.com/malfarion in the buttom).

I saw no community talking, it was all empty, even SWG had more talk going on and it was easier to grab along with some! then again, might just have been me coming online in a bad time.

The grafics: (tried to run on ultra just to see the grafic) was extremly nice, I would give it a 9/10 (stupid hobbit jumping in front of my, thats why it didnt get 10 :p, just kidding, a 10 is a game that is never complete) the effects is really nice, fire and effects (fire in the human start area, sunlight in dwarf start area) is just lovely.

The sounds: I didnt hear any music? heeelloooo music, anyone? and yes, I had sound on, besides that sounds are all the same (feels like that to me), 7/10 (mostly because I didnt hear any music, might go check an ear specialist), I have been told that there should had been music, (players able to play themself), sadly I did not experience it at all, though might have been my sound card messing with me, though I can only comment out from experience.

The animations: Okay, one thing that surely miss, is the animations! but I didnt see any big flaws like there is in WoW (polearm going through the head? ^_^) though the animations get a tad to repetive (only seen like 1 animation for each skill, hitting is a tad different, though it often shows the same after the other.. -.-') 7/8 from me, they should perhaps learn something from Star wars galaxies? or even Guild wars?.

Gameplay: The classes are really nice splitted up (I went straight away for the guardian :p) and fun too, if you are playing along with others! so if you got some friends who are LOTR fans (best if you are that too) then this is a game for you, unless you really are a World-PvP addict, but now I only had chance to test alone, so I can't judge that part, neither the voice channel one (which is a really good idea for groups and raids! I hope Blizzard and other MMO(RPG) companies can learn from that idea!) another thing that I just need to have along is the monster play part, owns! like it and there we go, an 8/10

Now many of you might start flaming me for saying my thoughts about LOTR Online, so flame away, I just said a few things that many might not have said, I wish I hadnt bought the game to be honest, but it will stay on the shelf since I am a LOTR fan, just maybe not a MMORPG LOTR fan.

*Bows and walks away into the mist*

~Edit: I dont like it because I feel like something is missing, to empty (for my taste perhaps).

I wrote this to make people know atleast some of the game, not just seen from a persons view who is going to flame/complain about it when he doesnt like it, as it have no use constructive use.

For the sound, I know that my sound is up to date (might just been having an error with the game itself, who knows *shrug shoulders* I have heard about the music should be great, actual one of the reason to why I bought it as well, though when I got inside the game, there was nothing (well you couldnt call those background sounds music or good sounds).

Decent write-up. I'm a bit confused though. You give it a rather positive, nearly glowing review, and yet say you regret buying the game. Why is that?

To me it sounds liek the game was physically very appelaing, but the core of it wasn't enough to keep him interested.

And who knows, sometimes you just go in a game and after a few hours you just know it isn't for you.

You might want to check on the sound issue with your computer.  LOTRO has great ambient music and a fantastic soundtrack!

    Nice write up.

I am not sure what level you got your character to, because there is plenty of music.

On the US servers, there are too many people playing instruments. People that can't play, should be booed off the stage, or kicked off the street. The US servers don't have RP servers, so I can't comment on the lack of chat going on.

The sound effects in the Shire and the Lonelands are great.

I agree about the character movements, they do not seem  fluid enough.

Are you serious? I cant go 1 metre without encountering another player. I've seen 3 full groups running toward epic instances simultaneously & OOC is constantly spammed with chat.
The sounds: I didnt hear any music?
There are FMVs and music in instances. If there was music you'd jus be here saying the music 'is repetitive'.
only seen like 1 animation for each skill
Am I missing something? Is the guy suppose to do completely different things each time he does the same skill? Show me an mmorpg that does 10 difference things for each skill.
Now many of you might start flaming me for saying my thoughts about LOTR Online
You know youre wrong if youre worried about being flamed.

Give it time the game it still new. When WoW first launched it was the same way.  After a few months some servers will start filling up.

Fair enough review. Sound is pretty good on my machine (although there have been the odd out of place bits of music) so maybe you had music off? As for chat in a RPG server, to be honest I wouldnt expect anyone to use the regional channels as they are hardly roleplaying, as for on the server I play on there is more the opposite (I hope the WoW vs LotRO debates stop popping up every 5 minutes soon). Quest wise it is pretty much the same as any other MMO. TBH I am surprised it hasnt drawn in more people, as it is in pretty good shape for such a recent release.
