How are the US servers? The EU servers have problems.

BahzBahz Member UncommonPosts: 182

We from Europe have crappy servers, down like 3 times a week now.....when they are down in the afternoon they stay down till late in the night since they cant handle the large amount of ppl trying to login at the same time :(  We even had a rollback on our server (Snowbourne) 2 days ago.

Was wondering if the US has the same problems.

No, we get downtimes announced a day ahead, and they run from 4-6 hours about once a week, sometimes twice.  No rollbacks.  Servers have been mostly very stable here.  Too bad you folks got stuck with Codemasters.

Playing in Europe here too, the servers Codemasters (In charge of EU devision) are hopless, and every time they patch somthing up so it works for a day or two it crashes out the first time the server is put under any strain.

Hope the US servers are having better luck.

Was the same initially for VG but things are very consistant now.

Just keep complaining and they will sort out the EU servers.

Now playing: VG (after a long break from MMORPGS)
Played for more than a month: Darkfall online, Vanguard SOH, Everquest, Horizons, WoW, SWG, Everquest II, Eve

At least there quick at delving in to the problem,

I remember when WoW first came out, all I had was crash's and servers (the most popular ones) could be down for days.

I get what youre saying (OP) but I know which server you're referring to and it was down for one sunday evening because it was overwhelmed on a bank holiday - I've had no problems before or since.

For the most part the US servers are stable but here in the last 2 weeks we had them go down unexpectadly twice. Once when everyone froze up in Bree but could still chat, that was hilarious and the second time last night at 11:00 pm pst they reset the servers. Oh and that was only for a few servers not all servers had that problem. Looks like Brandywine is the new Antonia Bayle.

I'm on Snowbourn too and they have been pretty bad lately. The rollback happened to some and not at all to others. The ones that played right through the issues (you could still play, but half the stuff like ah, zoning, etc wasnt working) didnt have the rollback. The ones that did log out were set back quite a bit. In my book there is nothing more annoying then a roll back. I'm just hoping they are running into problems that happen only once and after the fixes they wont happen again. Guess i am naive like that :p . Codemasters is running out of strikes though .. 2 out of 3 so far for me.

HIt my first server issue last evening, no it wasn't  down...but all of the chat channels were non-functional except private tells, and even they were super slow and laggy... (which is probably why they rebooted the servers at 11 pm)

Otherwise though...been real pleased with server availability.

I like this statement on the launcher :

The current issues that are affecting the login servers are still being worked on. We ask that all players begin to try logging on again in about 30 minutes from now (at approximately 20:05 GMT +1). Please be advised that as players begin to login, the queue will be slower than during normal play hours. Thank you.

Boys and girls at codemasters please note that evening hours are normal play hours. No wonder the servers crash they believe 7am till 9am are the normal play hours.

I'm at the server selection list now but snowbourn is 'closed'. Hope its open soon.....Wonder if they can handle the load :)

We don't get alot of downtime I think but the servers seem to run like crap.  Not sure whats the lesser of two evils....down servers or servers running extremely poorly ruining gameplay.

These problems aren't occurring on the US servers, so I really have to wonder what Codemaster's problem is. Did they try to cut corners on hardware? Or is the netwrok staff just clueless?

My impression of Codemasters has been pretty low for a long time, I sort of cringed when I saw they would be handling the game for people in the EU. I hope they get things straightened out for you all soon, it's sad to have a great game tarnished by an over seas partner with obvious problems.

Well they had the issues with the login servers months ago, back in beta. It's something they don't appear able to fix. Another couple of times at 2-3 days a week down and they're going to have to have a free month or something otherwise they'll lose players.

It's not really acceptable that they have recurring issues with the login servers  that go back to beta.

    Fix it fast CM.

totaly agree. First time I heard that Codemasters was doing the Euro servers a chill ran down my spine. I knew it was going be a fluster cluck. Turbine needs to find a way out of the contract since CM seems clueless.

I have no experience with codemasters that I can recall.  I have heard the name thrown around, never in a good context.  Most here seem to feel the same way about codemasters and have for some time.  My question is why in the world would Turbine use this company to handle the EU servers?  Are they affiliated with Turbine at all or more like a sub contractor?

It's just this whole thing astounds me.  On one occasion I was unable to log into the US servers.  That was during a scheduled downtime for patching.  A Rollback, what the heck is up with that?  If you have bad hardware....switch it out...reload the back up....done.  The code is the same...why probs across the pond and not here?  Perhaps you guys have a unanticipated heavier server load?  I dunno....makes no sense to me.

Regardless, I feel your pain over there and hope the situation is rectified soon.
