DAoC? What's it about?

Is this a good game to waste a monthly fee on? I've been disappointed by SWG for 15 a month and I was wondering if this game is worth it. Please post your input here.

Games worth looking at:
Morrowind and all the expansions
Anarchy Online
Wish
Everquest and any of its decandants
Daggerfall (Good 'ol time-wasting 2D)
Neverwinter Nights and the expansions
There are more but i've seem to run out of space :P

DAOC was a great game (perhaps the best) in 2002, a good game in 2003, and will be hard pressed by the new releases in 2004.  That pretty much sums it up.

I will say, they had the coolest weapons graphics I've even seen (especially the swords and axes).

  • K thanks, i'll take a look at it... I wonder if they'll make some expansions or downloadable content to spice it up.

They have and they will :). The fun starts at 50, from what I'm told.

Daoc still has a place in my heart as the best mmorpg i have ever played.

But with this in mind :Daoc is group play orientated

The noobie population of daoc is almost nil.

Mythic began catering for just its hard core community. It would be a hard game to start now and find direction and advice.

    such a shame

DAoC is a great game, i have played it for a few years and i still love it.  You only have to pvp, well rvr when you are in the mood and just now in open beta is New Frontiers, the new rvr expansion that is going to revolutionize this game, i have been playing it ever since it has gone open beta and it is the most fun i have had in a pvp enviroment in a long time

you can find some noobs playing, you can also do kill tasks up until youa re level 20 and then it will be alot easier to find groups.  If you have a level 50 chr you get free lvl 20 chrs now so that is where you will be able to start finding "good" groups but it is easy to get up to 20, your rvr experience will really start about level 20-24 when you can go to the first populated battle grounds, there are some places giving away 7 day free trials to the game, you may be able to get up to lvl 20 and try it out in that amount of time, great game, well worth trying
