I just wanted to post about all the supposedly new excitement for this game. I went back to see how the game was doing on Bloodfin my old server ,and here is what I saw. Other than Mos Eisley I saw very very few people playing and the few I did were either passing thru or afker's and credit farmers advertising. I am happy the game seems to have gotten some better devs but why are their so many posts latly filled with excitement about things being implemented to the game that were taken out because they were not Star warsy or Iconic? I thought the NGE that was forced upon the players was supposed to make the game Iconic and more Star Warsy but now I see they are re adding Creature handler to the game with a new name Beast Master. So I ask this question Why so much excitement about them re adding stuff that the game once had and re packaging it and calling it NEW Discuss my fellow Pre-CU brothers.
It's all about saving face. Managers don't like to admit it when they are wrong. They can lose their job over it.
The players were right, SOE knows it, and they are moving the game back to when it was better, in small digestible chunks. They are just repackaging it as something new and getting "excited" to draw people away from the fact that they are just backing changes out. Bringing creature handler back will excite the bio engineers even if it is a new creature handling system.
Plus we all know that kids love animals. This could be a good draw for the 12-16 set.
Even GL has said repeatedly that he did star wars for kids. They are the target audience for Star Wars in general. Look at Ewoks, Gungans, etc. Adults who think Star Wars is supposed to be serious don't like to hear this, but that's the way it is. They are family films though the last one was a little too deep and scary for kids.
I'm not saying SOE is taking starwars to before CU but I bet you'll see a lot of this in the near future. the design work is mostly done for the system, it's a cheap feature fluctuation that will make people think SOE is doing something new in swg.
Entertainers are already useful again, now this... Maybe SOE is capable of learning.
That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

No amount of pre-NGE content, especially the horribly mangled versions they have been implementing, will fix what is wrong with the game. The current core game is just not fun. Adding things to it just give you an unfun game with some extra stuff to do. The core game is still, as John Smedley himself once said, "nowhere near fun". Putting lipstick on a pig may make you feel better about the pig, but it is still just a pig.
I have to agree with the Bloodfin folks since Im back playing again. That server is really starting to pick up again with old vets returning. My 14 day free trial finished today and Im actually gonna re-sub to continue playing. Once I let go of my old ways and realized that I was a noob all over again it wasn't a bad game at all. PvP is constant if you want it to be, Crafting is back to complex and by far the best crafting system in any game Ive ever played, Nightsister hunting on Dath was just as fun as I remembered it and when they get the next patch in it will be a lot harder also.
I also cant help but add this fact. {warning, this is hard to believe but its actually true if you think back} People didn't quit is masses because of the NGE. I remember my guild was cut in half or more because they left to play WoW. This was before the CU and the NGE. Some just left because they were bored. Our partner guilds that were smaller left completely to play WoW also or something else. Dont look at the obvious reasons as to why people could quit. It was going on longer than that..
I miss some things about the Pre-CU game but Ive accepted the NGE. Most things never changed, just the combat really and it is a little more fluid once you get used to it.
My point: BLoodfin is booming (during peak hours mind you but thats like any game even WoW) Its a diferent game but you have to be willing to re-learn it.

I can say on my server (lowca) the population droped significantly after the CU my guild of over 200+ vanished to a mere 75 people. After the NGE hit we became vaporware. Al but 10 people stayed, 8 months after the NGE we had 5 left.
I know for a FACT that if they didn't roll out the CU they way they did we wouldn't have lost the majority of our guild. This is true for most of the guilds on lowca. NOw people leave because the server population makes the game a single player online game instead of an MMO.
Not sure how much more this game is going to last they just need to bury it somewhere was a nice idea but it never got backing at all and they did too many changes to meet the players needs so they all could be jedi's you want to know what killed it that was it....plus alot of issues dealing witht he crashing game client that they never seem to have fixed to this day....
Hell give me the shovel and bury it for everyone....
Putting up the servers to see how full they are means nothing. You can't possibly trust anything the devs put up or say in this game. Don't you know this by now? Haven't you been deceived and lied to enough already? Didn't they pull the game right from under you without any warning? Didn't they say they were bringing in new skills for pets and a lot of different new things for pets then took out CH altogether?
It said the same thing for my old server (Medium) and when I got there I saw no one. A passerby, a afk'er and someone running from left to right is not a medium or heavy server and this is basically what you see in any server for the most part.
