    Fantastic!

This is complete online game guide directly from the developers.

"The LOTRO Lorebook is a wiki - a searchable database - connected to the game itself. The Lorebook contains information on nearly every quest, item, creature, NPC, class, and race in LOTRO.

While this Preview Release of the Lorebook is read-only, future versions will be open to editing by LOTRO players. Players will be able use their forum account to log into the Lorebook to edit it, making it even more robust and useful to the player population.

We're very excited about the unveiling of the Lorebook, and look forward to hearing your feedback and suggestions! Please visit the Lorebook forums on the LOTRO site".

"Don't corpse-camp that idea. Its never gonna rez"
    Bladezz (The Guild)

  • And just like the forums, Euro players won't be able to log into it.

    so what else is new

    Um...

Edit: well, I thought you could create an account, but it seems that i was wrong... buggery

  • killerwigkillerwig Member UncommonPosts: 236

Ah... now I see the problem. Thought you just needed a standard forum account.

Wow.....and to be integrated into the game itself.  Very cool....

Please bear in mind that this is a BETA lorebook. There are invalid/obsolete entries about things that only existed in the beta at some stage. An example:

http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Item:Athelas_Extract  -  we don't have this in the game (check the ingredients)

    DB

Denial makes one look a lot dumber than he/she actually is.

Just another aspect that they ripped off of WoW. LOTRO is a WoW clone.

Seriously, Turbine has decided to continue to add nice features in a steady stream post launch.

They concentrated on having a working game with good polish at release. There are a few bugs, but most are minor.

There are some holes in quests at certain levels, but they'll fix that with the content update next month.

There are plenty of features that will be added over the course of the first year that will make LOTRO a much better game.

I am waiting for Player housing, but they haven't given an estimate as to when it will be put in.

It looks really nice - good job Turbine!  I can't wait until it's integrated into the game, too!

When scary things get scared, that's bad...

Only if you play in the US. Euro versions will not have that feature.

Does that mean there's going to be an in-game browser?  Any news on whether you'll be able to visit other sites as well?

How do you know that? The lore book is still in beta it says on the site it is a beta. All that they need is for codemaster to host a version of the lorebook like they host a forum for the game. I am willing to bet that once it is out of beta and they have the bugs worked out turbine will let codemasters do this. If they are not already working on setting the site up as we speak. I really do hope they get it set up for you guys.

Not to mention it's a wiki that anyone will be able to add to.  That means you'll have a very up-to-date compilation of information.  It will require minimal translation to other languages as the people who speak their own language will contribute to their own.  I doubt Turbine wouldn't have it for European players...  Hopefully they have that much creative control over Codemasters.  Or, all the english-speaking lotro EU players will come to US servers.

I don't see how you could be posting on the US LOTRO forums. If I try to use my old account, I get the message that my subscribtion has expired, if I try to register a new one, I get this message:
Sorry, registration has been disabled by the administrator.

    How do you know that?

Because the FAQ for the Wiki specifically states that you must have an active TURBINE account.

Hate to break this to you all, but a wiki is not something new for games. I've been using them for quite awhile for various games.

Seriously, are people just looking for more reasons to gush about how awesome turbine is? They're just doing what everyone else has done and giving it a LOTR name.

Even the title of this post "OMG.... the Lorebook!" just reaches all the way down and throttles my confidence in humanity.

OMG THE GAME HAS GRPAHICS, OMG YOU CAN BE A HOBBIT, OMG I CAN TAKE QUESTS FROM ARAGON, THAT'S SO PWNING L33T, I MEAN OMFG   ARAGORN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    *sigh*

Just cause you can't access it right now doesn't meen that it won't be accessable after it is out of beta. Give them a chance to get the bugs worked out and ready for the EU servers.

Yes, wikis are used a lot by fansites.  However, there's very few MMOs that have put out an 'official' wiki with data pulled directly from the source. (I say 'very few' only because there might technically be an MMO out there that has done it.  i don't know of a major mmo that has done it)

Getting a little personal with the flames there. Your personal inability to understand why people are exicited about a site for a MMO they are enjoying is YOUR problem, not theirs. They are having fun in a MMO that is meant for people to have fun and like it when a site that is dedicated to that MMO is launched. What are you doing?

    See you in the dream..
The Fires from heaven, now as cold as ice. A rapid ascension tolls a heavy price.
