EverQuest II Requirements?

Camman321Camman321 Member Posts: 68
I know what the requirements are. I'm just having a problem with the display of the game. It was fine when I first played it. It was all gravy....display, graphics....no poor performance. Just for some reason, about an hour later....it all turned darkish. I didn't change any settings. All settings on the EQ2 client are on default. Everything looks very dark...there's no light. Creatures & NPCs glow.  I can't post on their forums because you have to purchase the item before you can get help on it. Kinda stupid....cause people like me who are interested get no help. I already tried filing Sony Station Technical help request...but no answer. So I'm hoping I can get an answer from you guys :)

Thanks!!! Here's URL of what my problem looks like. As you can see...it's daytime at the time of the screenshot...

I don't see anything wrong, maybe (a slight maybe) the graphics card. It does support Pixel Shader 2.0 and all that fancy crap. Trying dumping the cashe, I'm not sure on the command but maybe in a manual or on their site will have commands. Try /flush sence it's an SOE game it was the same for VG (I know they had nothing to do with it, but maybe commands are similar or even the same).

    Well, I talked to Gateway.

They told me my Geforce card is an onboard card. Meaning it's taking 256MB of space from my 1024MB of memory. So while I still meet the minimum requirements for EQ2...I'm short on the recommended requirements.

I don't think that's the problem though. I run the game fine. It's not choppy or laggy. No crashes, or anything. I was just playing this game for the first time yesterday, and about 1 hour later, it did what you see in the picture. It might seem like it's taking graphics away because it can't be supported. But my question is why did it work for the first couple hours? Then decided to just "crash" the graphics?

    Thanks for the response

Are you using the latest drivers? Maybe you should reinstall it.

Are you using an old crt monitor. lcd tft monitors  give out more brightness so ive heard but don't go to the extreme of buying a new monitor just yet. Play around with the setting. Gamma, brightness. Also look at your geforce setting in the control panel. You should have something that allows you to change the colour so it will become brighter.

It is a graphic glitch on your end.  It is hardware/driver related.  You have a gforce 6100?  That card is really incapable of modern day games.  I suggest you upgrade to any video card targeted at midrange to high end gamer graphics.  (at this point I cant reccomend anything other than some sort of 8 series geforce graphics card.  Everything else is not owrht the money compared to a 8800.)

Your issues are that you are trying to play EQ2 with a card not designed to play intensive 3D video games.  If you want to continue playing intensive 3D games I suggest you update your hardware.

At this point in time, there is nothing on the market that can compare to the price per performance of an 8800gts.  Sure it is expensive but it plays everything that is available now at big framerates and is capable of playing future stuff because it is DX10 compatible.

Current day games will not run on a 6100.. sorry.  Your expectations are unreasonable.

Agreed ,  if this is a laptop is sort of tough to upgrade the video , my laptop is stuck with  an ATI X600 128mb - it can be painfully to play the high req games with it.

    Unaware of the Jestor?

Get a real graphics card, onboard stinks.

    Well,

I'm not prepared to go and spend $100-$200.00 for a video card I may or may not use...specifically for a game I barely was able to enjoy, or fit in with...I didn't even get past a days trial. While it seems ok. I won't know unless I play more. I'm not that big of a MMORPG fan, and I can go find another game that doesn't require a huge upgrade purchase, plus their costs. That' how I see it. Thanks though.

Wow, I see what you mean. The problem is your graphics card is old. It can't handle proper graphics in EQ2. The graphics in this game are intensive and need a better video card than that to run properly. I suggest a geforce 7600GT or better.
