I think guild cities don't really matter till at least a month after release, just because it's dman near impossible to afford a city at launch, unless you dupe/exploit, etc.

I rather see other stuff work properly before this I believe.

I think this particular rumor got mixed up with another one.

Personal player housing won't be included at launch, the program got scrapped back towards the end of alpha testing. But in any case, the guild cities are quite safe. Or rather, as "safe" as a virtual war zone can be of course.

    Exactly,

It was stated that guild cities and the buildings within them would be available from launch. You and your guildies can produce a fully functional town that is build with what the developers are calling 'houses' but will actually be work buildings for collecting resources, making stuff for your crafting if i'm not mistaken. As well as shops and stalls to sell items.

Later down the road, we might open the possibility of housing should the developers choose to pull it out and add it in.

In addition to the 'safe' comment. There is a movie.. i think its a dev interview, that talks about the guild cities. When the guild city gets large enough and isn't under threat of player attacks so much, NPC will begin to set up nearby towns or 'bases of operation' and slowly over weeks of time they will acrue a small army and begin to siege your town. In return, your guild can choose to fight them off and then destroy their encampments with trebuchettes or simply continue to defeat their armies as they amass.

That is partly misinformation I am afraid. When building a city, Guilds have a choice between placing it in the PvE based resource zones, or the PvP based borderlands. It is quite possible to have both, but defending two seperate cities at once is liable to heavily strain manpower and resources for all but the largest and most well coordinated guilds.

PvE guild cities face the hiving NPCs mentioned above, but not other players. Vice Versa is true for PvP guild cities.

    Ummm, that's also part misinformation.

Guild Cities are buildable in PvE only zones, with the current server system. (no word on FFA-PvP)

Battlekeep and tower are captureable/buildable in the Border Kingdoms which are PvP. You dont place a battlekeep or tower, there are limited amounts of them. Yes, you can have both.
