Do we have any idea how many to expect back with chapter 6 ?

     This is still "Buff Wars". Try fighting any high ranked PvPer and you'll get the idea. Now Entertainers can give strong buffs, its even more buff wars than ever.. so, a fully buffed commando for example is an unstopable tank (as they will lose only a little power).

    rebel themepark gets a revamp so no 'continue'. the CH is just expertise but does look promising.

    as for the heal, they changed it back

    pitty, i was one of the few that was all for the heal nerf.

    the players on SOE forums can't seem to make up their minds tho, first they threaten to leave if soe institutes the heal nerf, and now that it is not gonna happen they are moaning because the nerf was cancelled, too many kiddies playing this game...

    Well, in a way you are right i suppose.

    Alot of people have moved onto other mmorpgs, but there were 2 kinds of people that played SWG, the die hard starwars fans and the casual players that really just enjoyed the game.

    With all the hate posts going around i think that secretly most of the vets are dying to play swg again, their posts are more "please give us our old game back" rather than "we hope you die in hell" thing.

    The main problem is that the old game is gone, it will never return, what SOE really needs to do right now is take this new game and complex the hell out of it, this is one edge that will make it superior to any other mmorpg on the market. Return some of the old content and professions, but at the same time add complexity to it, add onto it, and make everything unique, give each profession a purpose in the game and bug fix the hell out of it. and so far this is exactly what they have been doing.

    A few months ago i was truly convinced this game was near it's end, all over the net, all you saw were hate posts and negative ratings. people were leaving the game in swarms, i would make a new friend today and tommorrow he was gone ... But the last few chapters were really shocking and surprised me somewhat.

    Everytime they add something the general reaction from most people were " well it is only one thing they did right, it is not enough to save the game or make me return". Yet here we are a few months later and SOE has been steadily adding things to the game, and chapter 6 is a MASSIVE addition to the list, as will be chapter 7 and 8.

    I don't know what changed their minds or why they went from being ignorant to suddenly adding things players have been asking for - for the last 2 years, maybe they finaly gave into all the hate, who knows... but the main thing is that they are now doing what they should have done a long time ago, they are slowly breathing life back into the game, and since it has had a positive effect and can be seen by postive posts from players as well as increase in profits you can be sure they will continue down this road.

    which brings me back to the players, current and vets.

    The die hard starwars fans will most likely be the first to retun, and i have seen this with my own eyes over the last while, and most of these guys love the new game. the casual players also eventualy crawl back into the spotlight, altho alot of them do not quite like the game, mainly because they do not want to take the time to get to learn the game all over again, they log in and find the controls hard to use, immediatly half of them log out and cancel subcription ... etc ..

    BUT , in the long run it boils down to just one thing. Of all the current mmorpgs on the internet, there is no other mmorpg that has the complexity that swg offers. most of the mmorpgs get tiring after you maxed your first or second toon, and alot of people are tired of the WoW style of gaming. The sandbox complexity of swg is what is keeping it alive.

    Of the 38 people that voted on this thread 52% said they would be returning to check out the game, that is almost 20 people from just this website alone that actualy voted yes, and more people said they would return than those that said they would not.

    therefore no matter which way you look at it, after chapter 6 hits there will definitely be an increase in population, as there was with chapter 5 and i am sure the same will happen with chapters 7 and 8.

    lets just hope that SOE learnt their lesson and continue down this path they have started ...

     

    odd they are adding complexity to the game, thats not iconic not fun.  IT means more reading for us (i'm being sarcastic here),



    Currently the complexity you speak of isn't in the game yet.   Also a poll consisting of 38 people is hardly a large enough pool to justify your conclusions.  AS far as SWG:NGE it's not a sandbox game.  If it was a sandbox game we would still have our 34+ profession's.

    including yourself.  Honestly why lessen the jedi abilities anymore than they already have.  We have many more profession's that are much more powerful than jedi so why do you want to make them weaker than entertainers?   To drop the heal from 10k to 5k is rather ignorant on their part, and the player base for not knowing any better.  Everyone wants their class to be the ALPHA class and it just isnt so.  Every profession needs to have abilities and disabilities the others don't have, otherwise we would all be playing 1 profession and not 13.

    I re-subscribed last week. Certainly my Master CH/BE is welcoming the beast mastery. My datapad and inv is loaded with beasties. Another thing I noticed playing the trial is that all the old professions are back, hidden in the new ones. It depends on how you distribute your expertise points.



    Anyhow, it's nice to be out of a fantasy MMO for awhile.

    your kidding it should be a 10 second timer not 15.  I can count the times i was taken down by 6 or more rebs faster than 9 seconds.  To short imo, after all a commando or group of commando's can and will out dmg a jedi and  their health pool.  I took a 85 commando out to rustus and litteraly took out several lvl 90 jedi, nearly beat a spy and commando (fighting together) both lvl 90.  It was hard for them to take my lvl 85 commando out and thats because of the armor bonus which jedi don't have.  So in comparison to commando, the 15 second timer is in line as one major benefit jedi have.  Unless you want to start giving jedi innate armor, HOT buffs (heal over time) and similar abilities as the command, but wait if they did that then jedi wont be jedi they will be commando's..

    I re-subbed to make sure my house, and the message on its sign, stays up. And I made a new toon to look after it, so that I never have to look at the evisceration and neutering that Beast Master does to my original character's "legacy mount".
