There are always tons of people online in EVE. If you are a beginer I would suggest first playing the tutorial (which is long and somewhat boring) which is why the above poster got bored after 10 minutes.
EVE is for patient and intellgent players and all excitement in this game is derived from forming up with a player run organization. It does have its problems (which are minimal imho) but the realistic loss in PVP and the value of holding the battlefield more than make up for anyones precieved boringness. Time based skill training is one of my favorite things as well. I played UO and am partial to skill training rather than level grinding, and this game is just like UO other that you don't have to spend your 2 hours off work doing repetative mouse clicks.
