People with complaints are far more likely to post about them...to at least vent and get their frustrations off their chests..
Then you get people like myself...who are big fans of a game..you will see them post too. We are often quickly flamed as fanbois or something...like that is a bad thing. I don't think it is however.
My point being..you can not judge a game by a majority of the posts made about it. Majority of posts are from people who don't like the game...one seldom hears from the people enjoying themselves.
Ask the question...how many times have you had a good experience and bothered to tell the world? be it at a store or a restaraunt..ect
and...how many times have you had a bad experience and made it known?
Chances are...you talked alot more about a bad experience than a good one. There are strong statistics out there to back this up. Had I the time right now..I would like em. If you doubt this info...google it and see for yourself.
Particularly in these forums as they have a much higher percentage of young folks lacking life experiences.
I see a lot of people making positive posts about Lord of the Rings Online.

I've also seen lots of posts saying LOTRO is boring ....   But im not surprised if its getting good subscription #'s since its basicaly a clone of WOW with some new stuff thrown in for good measure...  But I have a fealing once the newness wears off the subscription numbers will start to drop as people go back to WOW....   The reason WOW is number 1 is more of a social reason then a pure gaming reason...

Not that I'm jumping into the thread at all...

I found Vanguard ok, did the guest pass and was enjoying it. What I wasn't enjoying  was the bugs and issues, but the people were friendly and it was interesting and I was hunting around for a cheap copy.

It would be something I play, for a bit, until I was bored and that was it. I liked the crafting, it was interesting, it was different to WoW which I liked.

Now on WoW it is a good game, works well and is relatively bug free, and I'm just fed up of people saying its a bad game, its not, but after 2/3 years it does get boring, why play it? Social reasons of course, just the same as playing EQ, SWG etc etc the long standing games that really aren't that much different than day dot (forgetting SWG :P)

Its the same as playing an old game over and over, like Civ games for example :P

So stop dissing games just because they are popular or not what you want to play any more.

I like the game.  Sure there are preformance issues but they are working to correct these issues.  And most have nbeen corrected.  Updates load relatievely quick and to me the game is fun.  If a trail version comes out you will need to give it a try.  There are worse games out there.  I have 4 characters on the game and I the crafting and the diplomacy.   I also play LOTR and DDO and this game is, to me on par with those two.   There are negative things to all games, but VSOH has improved and I am willing to give it some time to see if it becomes a great game.  Now though it is fun and as long as it is not boring, I will continue to split time between it , LOTR and DDO.  But remember, only you can decide if a game is good or not and everyone has an option about the game either good or bad.  Good luck with whatever game you choose.
