This game ahd the potential to be one the the best mmos ive ever played, but i played on a european pvp server, as pvp is what i love, but the major lack of people on the server killed the game, im talking a few 100 people on the evil side at any one time. and over 50% of them are max level. What does that leave for everyopne else?

Hence they merged the EU pvp server with the US ones last month.
There just wasnt that many EU pvp-fans in EQ2 it seems- no wonder really as EQ2 is designed to be a great PVE games on all levels and pvp was added in with the first expansion, thus lacking in some areas.
If you want to play a good pve game, your best bet is EQ2 is the most complete and polished game on the market right now.
If you want to play a good pvp game, you might try looking for another title.

Despite having massive potentiol, EQ2 botched PvP imho..

No control points in any given zone made it a futile excercise in chasing high lvl gankers around as they made free use of the enemy's griffons or whatever. It was just frustrating and pointless. Despite many PvPers crowing about how they love the fight, not many of them actually stuck around to actually have one if it was anywhere near an equal match. Most just fought at zones or bells... it was dispiriting to say the least.

Farming XPing lowbies was the order of the day in the main, and that's a makes for really poor PvP imho.

How easy would it have been to have put keeps, towers, caves, or other control points in each zone to focus the fight into a general area? Whatever side controlled the structure for longer then 30mins (or whatever...) gets real bonuses to  faction, xp or loot rolls in that zone?

As it stands, PvP in EQ2 is just an unfocused annoyance and not fun at all.

But, yeah, the best PvE game out there by a long shot :)

EQ 2's superiority in PvE and its less than impressive PvP, is very similar to all games of its type.  By this I mean that games that have been out on the market for 3+ years usually have great PvE because of the time that can be put in to add depth into the surrounding environment.  EQ2 is especially good for this considering their backstory with EQ1.  But as  a result of time, no matter how many expansions and updates you have, many players will be maxed out after 2 or 3 years and a heavy dose of ganking will occur in PvP's and most of it will be unfair for new players and boring for older, higher level players.  WoW is expieriencing this too but not As bad considering their huge community of players stretching over 8 million, which gives more diversity for character levels.  Any game with under 2 million and that has been out for 3+ years is a safe bet that the PvP will be unfair and not all that fun.  It's just natural unless the game developers can think of some system to even out the PvP somehow.  Maybe LoTR's Monster PvP is the answer but only time will tell.

This game was not created for PvP. PvP is an afterthought. Most people do not play this game to PvP, they play the game to quest. After all, the game is called Everquest, not "kill each other whenever you feel like it".

If PvP is what you're looking for, then go to a game where thats the whole point because you won't be happy in EQ2.

Anyone could have told you that if you'd asked.
