While I respect the e sports fragger scene is happy with that I am quite dissappointed. I had my RTS time, but its long gone and I dont see anything new in the scene. I had hoped a totally different new MMO, maybe finally something NOT again fantasy. Blizzard has the know how. Now we have to wait, heh.
Oh well, happy zerging to the Starcraft fans. ^^

You have to think though, with WoW's sub numbers still in the millions, they wouldn't want to make a new MMO because then they'd be competing with themselves.
Give WoW a few more years to drop in sub numbers once WAR, AoC, and whatever other games get released in 2008.
Then we might see Blizzard make a new MMO. But I think it's more likely that Diablo 3 will be next.

Well Blizzard could follow the same pattern with SC2 that they did with WC3.
Release the game, 1 year later release an expansion pack and 1 year after that the MMOG version. So assuming SC2 came out this year, 2008 we'd have SC2 Expansion and 2009 we'd see World of Starcrarft (or whatever better name they come up with).
Really dont want to be "zerged" by the AI again..I will pass on this one. Much better games/genres out there to play anyways. SC1 was the game that was the "straw that broke the camels back". Made me realize I did not like RTS games at all.
First of all i gotta join the "woot" band wagon for SC2. Awesome news for us people who have been waiting for it for far too long now.

Now my second point has to do with this massive rumor, which most of us should be praying for if you are a die-hard MMO'er and wanna get a close feel for the SC world. Anyways before i go off-topic, I was checking the jobs section on the main website. Guess what positions they wanna fill in? Yep thats right, "Next-Gen MMO", programmers and artists about 3 in total.
It might just mean it is for another MMO they wanna make, but it still means there is a chance SC MMO might be on the horizon. WOOOT! Im going nuts just thinking about the possibilities knowing how much i love SciFi MMO's.
Well it would make sense for them to make a Starcraft MMOG. The market is currently flooded with fantasy based games now, but very thin with scifi. EVE's pvp is a bit too much for many gamers or it would have larger subs too. Not to mention its steep learning curve.
Blizzard makes a scifi game that is easy to get in to, with low PC requirements and a well known IP? Yep, that would definately be a hit. Not to mention they could offer a discount of say $25/month to sub to both WoW and World of Starcraft, which many people would definately jump in on.
Sorry but IMHO i think they should make Starcraft MMO much like PLANETSIDE and not so much like WOW.
For WoW with the swords and what not i think it worked or whatever even if its not my preferance.
I think STARCRAFT with "100%" pvp would be good. Let there be AI like armies of NPC's and what not, but make it an actaul struggle for the map/worlds or whatever. That would be great, make it so you actually have to invade. Zergs area has the creeep so you know your in enemy territory, Protoss has massive buildings/statues, and terran are basicaly smog lol!
But let me realy go into this. People have asked me when i put out this idea, YEAH WELL HWO WOULD ZERG WORK. Easy: Anyone who payed attention in SC lore would know that zerg are actually just little leech like things that would infest other living creatures and turn them into killing machines, like the dreaded hydralisk was actually herbevore.
Now if you were to spawn you would spawn w/in the hatchery, of course you would be alittle quicker than usually cause you should be able to pick your gear quickly, but anyway you will be inside the hatchery and able to pick your "Suit" with the ling being first then as you level, hydra etc etc etc.
Now of course thats just my first idea of how it would work, cause of course theres balance issues with new players and all that stuff (trust me companies actaully go through this its called "IN CONCEPT" although im not saying that blizzard is thinking abotu this) Anyway im sure you get my main point is that they should make SC Mmo if they do make it more along the lines of pvp. Non of that fight these fantasy monsters that never really existed in the games to cause any damage and then do some crappy raids. LETS ACTUALLY DO WHAT STARCRAFT WAS MADE FOR AND WAGE WAR.
Anyway other than my shitty grammer and spelling why not work off this for some positive feedback and constructive criticism on the idea of the game and maybe blizzard will learn something from its fans!
Starcraft II is awesome news indeed, i somehow doubt they'll do an MMO but if they ever did i would want it like the post above, some cool ideas there and i really hate the usual fighting system in the majority of MMO's including WoW.
Anyway, a Fallout MMO will be finished before you ever see a Starcraft one, and yes Interplay are making an Fallout MMO and yes the company is back.
chances of an MMO on starcraft is not v high for it is not gonna b easy 2 make the classes however i would like to see one but the higher chances of an MMO appearin is diablo 3

Starcraft is really a great game, but I do not come to this website to talk RTS games. I once enjoyed RTS games, but thats in the past I have found that playing in game worlds with thousands of other players is so much more fun. I am sure all the gamers that loved Starcraft will find it lacking something if they are expert mmo gamers.
I so much would have preferred to see a Diablo or Starcraft MMO.
RTS games get so stale after just a few months for me. Even turn based strategy games like the Total War series hold my interest longer.
As far as WoW is concerned, it is not sandbox enough for me as far as MMO's go. I prefer games to be like the original (or even current) version of SWG, but I will say that WoW is about as polished and seemless as possible when it comes to game design and mechanics.
While I would prefer a Starcraft MMO, mostly because of my dislike for ghouls and goblins, the original Diablo held my interest as a game for the longest of any non-mmo I have ever played. (Diablo II did, I guess I mean to say...)
I hope Blizzard comes out with a new MMO soon, because they clearly have some talent on board there.

Strange, my calculations are in favor of SC mmo.
Very Excited about SC2!
Also, I love the little "wink at the fans" stuff that blizzard does... "Hell....Is about time!"
Couldn't have said it better myself.
