For the cost of a few months subscriptions to these games you could buy yourself a vid card and some mem and your ability to play these games would dramatically improve....  Your CPU is ok, but again you may be able to upgrade pretty easy for little $$$.

ATI 9600 can be had on ebay for around $35

Nvidia FX 5200 Can be had for around $25 on ebay (comes in PCI or AGP

I have some PC2700 ram 256mb that I would sell for $15 with shipping....

    Just some ideas....

Athlon 2700xp barton core (if your MoBo supports it) it less than $20 on ebay....

For $65 you could rally upgrade your current PC....

I would suggest starting with your vid card, then Mem, then your CPU

It works with 4x APG and can play  WoW and Oblivian - this card took an hour of reseach to comply with my old dell p-4 which only as a 250w power supply  and only as a 4x APG slot. its now about $60  to your door

    Love that Jestor!

His problem really isnt his intergrated video card its his ram. I remember playing EQ back when it first came out and 512mb Ram was way to much. EQs requirments were

Pentium 166 MHz (Note older-model Cyrix processors will not work with EverQuest.)
    Windows 95 or 98
    32 MB RAM
    8x CD-ROM drive
    28.8k Internet connection
Direct3D or Glide compliant video card with 4 MB RAM
    Sound Blaster-compatible soundcard
    Microsoft-compatible mouse

    Recommended:
    Pentium 200 or greater
    64 MB RAM or higher
    3dfx-based video card

and my PC had 32mb of ram and was well over the rest of the requirements. Due to me have requirement ram i was unable to play the game. Ram is a big part of MMO's, the more ram the better the game will run PERIOD.  So what im trying to say is he needs ram first then think about upgrading the video card. 128mb card is well more then enough to play most mmos with the lowest of settings on. His ram is whats preventing him from playing these games. Upgrade ram then  video u will see with more ram what games you can truely play with a athlon 64

your right i see your post about his ram now. just came in today seen your post about the graphics card and didnt care to read further back. Im a electronic tech so i know what I'm talking about along side you. But my quote was for more of a purpose of using your suggestion for this graphics card. Yeah everyone wants a better graphics card i sure do. 2x Geforce gtx 8800 *drool* or quad whatever the max is you can use that card in config have really looked into it yet. but for now my geforce gts 8800 640mb card will do it'll do. So either way listen to us GET RAM RAM RAM RAM RAM RAM RAM RAM then upgrade your card

The thing is, upgrading your ram will improve your system's performance overall, where a video card is really more for games. Go with ram, you won't regret it.

If his ram would allow 4 * 128 strips then he could to well  and my  videocard upgrade. My guess is a strip like that would cost about $40to $50 each so my upgrade solution would cost  about $250.00 . The OP would have to ask himself is it worth it ?

384 he has to have 3x128 slots of ram.  so he has 3 ram slots more then likely. if his board can support 256 he can get up to 768 with $30 a stick. SD Ram is cheap now. With 768mb of ram he can play most mmo's.  But if his board is limited to 128 ram per a slot hes SOL and needs to invest in a new mobo that supports higher ram.

Yeah my upgrade was a little expensive in terms of how much money i had. spent round 1400 dollars total. And that was 2 get a core2duo 6400 1gb of 800mhz ddr2 ram and geforce gts 8800. Had to get a new PS for the PCI express card. Wish vanguard didnt disappoint me i had hopes for that game. Hopefully they will be fixed in the coming years. but thats a differ topic

I want to address this issue of RAM vs vid card.....The relationship is definitly intertwined but look at the vid card were talking about....

It's an integraded SIS 760, I was hard pressed to get any good technical specs on this card, but I would be willing to guess that at least 1/2 of the video memory is shared from the system.

That means that the interface on that card between memory and the core processor is probably 32 bit running at DDR333, which by video standards is horrid....A 7 year old 9600 is running at 600mhz DDR 400mhz core with a 64bit memory interface.  The FX5200 is pretty close to that.

I think in this case a $35-$50 vid card would go a long way to improve performance.  The vid card in this system would be the bottleneck long before the memory imho.

Having said that, adding another 256-512mb of ram would help, but replacing the vid card would do a little of both....

Yes if he had a 512mb of ram probably gettin a vid card would be the best bet in spending coin, but hes got less then that. Ram is Priority. LIke I said b4 I have experienced this b4 and vid card did nothing when i was in need of ram.

Lets agree on this one imutable fact, that system is in desperate need of both.  I was looking this morning at a 9700pro.  Still a decent card by todays standards (the same as the 9800 non pro in every way, except overclockability).  That card could be had for as little as $25  I Have a stick of samsung PC 2700 333mhz DDR (That I ran at 400mhz for over 2 years) that I would part with cheap.  Hell mow a couple of lawns and you have earned enough for both, then we won't ave to debate this issue...lol
