character combat animations lacking

apocalanceapocalance Member UncommonPosts: 1,073

The one detracting thing from this game (visually) is the combat animations. I was watching some of the youtube videos and they pretty much look like what I've seen from previous videos. All of the combat animations are done poorly. Hopefully they can fix that in future releases.

Honestly, it's one thing that keeps me from being seriously interested. As it is, if WAR comes out and it's not fun, instead of going back to WoW (current game /sigh), I'll probably pick up LotRO. But like I said, I'm hoping they do a decent job with WAR.

Why am I posting here? I guess I'm looking to see if others see lotro the same as I do (or not) or if perhaps someone may have heard if they're updating the animations in future releases.

so...

LoTRo is fun and looks fine to me....I guess i say that because I wasn't expecting much.  I know it doesn't have staying power for me.  I will be jumping from this game when either GnH, TCoS come out and definetly WAR and AoC.   WAR and AoC will, for me, own everything on the market....as long as what is stated is delivered.....so basically dont mcquaid WAR and AoC and those games will dominate.

I agree that the combat animations are lacking but to me it's not all that important.  They will probably work on it for future patches.  It's a good game regardless.

Compared to "3rd generation" title like Vanguard, these animation are awesome

agreed....I think this is a good solid game with lots of fun to be had, but i just don't get that feeling with it.  I dont think it is great just good.  I mean it is good enough to have me playing it

There are a bunch of animations that need work in this game.

Just look at the way a Captain summons a herald, they are using the same animation lore-masters use to summon pets.

Combat animations or otherwise aren't game breakers for me as I am often to busy looking at my skill bar. :)

I think the big problem with the Combat is not the bland animation, but the "delay" feeling you have.  From experiencing WoW PvP, you should know what I'm talking about.  It's like the whole combat is lagged, which in turns to almost less freedom in movement/skill execution.  There's a delay between where you can use your skills; even if your next skill is done it's cool-down, you cannot execute it right away.  So if you very much enjoy the combat style WoW has to offer, I wouldn't suggest playing this game, for you will be automatically turned off by this slow-paced combat engine.

Also remember to up your animation levels. If there turned down everyone looked like they are running in slow motion.

Since I run on ultra-high everything is beautiful. At least in my opinion.
