Just out of curiosity, was there something specific that really made you upset?

I hate "click" crowds and not having the ability to get into groups, or getting kicked out of groups because i don't use a mic. Just a bunch of little things that add up , The in game community in both closed betas was so much better and that is what I thought would carry through into release, boy was I wrong

The Kinshi I play with isn't even on anymore an I am the highest level, I didn't hit cancel yet cause I would lose the founders price , but I reached that screen.

So mentally , I am not playing , physically i'm still getting billed.

My initial predictions about the game were that it would become the next game for many WOW players who wanted something new.

and the more popular it gets the more ass hats will be attracted to it. I would just let the trolls over here have thier way if I really thought it would keep a few a of the dick weeds from playing. Well one consolation is as soon as AoC hits those with a short attention span will be running to it, then next year WAR will attract a lot of the PvP crowd I think. Silverlode is still a pretty good server , at least mostly good people.

What server do you play on? I can tell you that the US server elendilmir is a awsome server. With the largets population of closed beta kinships calling it home. As far as the EU servers go i have no idea. But if you are on the US servers roll a character on elendilmir and give me a holler. My in game name is grindalyx. Leader of the shards of narsi.

I'm on Melendor and it is just frustating , so I am going to take a break .

Taking  a break may be a good idea. I have heard some poor things about melendor. As i say i play on elendilmir. Think about it and give it a try. It is one awsome server for community.

I'd suggest moving to another server, or at least joining another kinship.

I can understand why people who are used to voice come to depend on it, then demand it.  It makes a big difference in groups.  Still, that's not an excuse to be rude.  Some people still seem to think that they need a mic to enable voice chat.  It's worth enabling it, because you can hear those who do have mics, on your speakers or headphones. Better than nothing.

Tbh i hate voice commumication, it breaks all game mood 4 me. Nothin worst than play in nice game but have to listen some  $#%^.

Rly some ppl should stay silent, crap if they r  raid leaders 4 xample. New games need voice communication more and more. Who ever

thought about some TS or ventrilo when WoW  was half year old ? Later most guilds anyway didnt use it  till some more serious raidin.

But now situation is like ; u got no ts u got no spot in guild ( even sensible),  but y u got no spot if u got no micro ? Listenin voice of kids

is enough frustratin, listenin their dumb conversation is drama, but u Have To. Jeez ppl , sorry but it sux 4 me.

Hehe, i am too used to chat as u see. It even influents on speaking.  But wondering, chat form makes u trouble or my sucky english ?

Dont care , just wondering. Becouse if chat form is problem for you dont know how u talk to ppl in game. Typing word after word etc is wasting time.

    CJ,

You had a run in with a handful of people on a server of thousands. Put them on ignore and talk to someone new. Its not that big of a deal. One thing I never agree on is when a person says a game is no good or won't play because of the community (I know you didn't) there are asshats and good people in every game on every server. The more popular a game is the higher the amounts.

Form your own groups and clan. Simple solution, make the social rules yourself. it takes time to find like minded people you enjoy playing with. You can't expect to play a game for a few weeks and have the end all of community. Especially in pick up groups. There is a reason some people depend on pick up groups.....

If you are gonna let 10 or 15 (or 20 or 30) people out of thousands influence you that much, you are going to have a hard time in MMO's. Its like that in any game. None of them have communities of shiny happy people. If you don't like a group or their rules, quit and find another. Its not like there is a shortage of people in LotRs.

A break sounds like a good thing. Battlefield 2 is great for venting frustrations. Run people over with a tank, you will feel better after that.

Take a rest Joe, it'll come back :)

I play on the EU server Snowbourne, which was the very first EN normal server. On Sunday I managed to gather a random crowd for 2 guests in the North Downs - Black Fire and Vile Poison. Now, Black-Fire is not a small one, almost like a mini-instance, and is quite tough. Regardless - we had a BLAST, some guys in the group even wrote that they had never enjoyed a fight as much as that one before.

If you're lucky, you do have a chance to find a group of mature people - and I think LOTRO is still very good in that!

(I did leave WOW after an OMFG suxxorzzz bunch if premature idiots ruined the atmosphere for me totally, so I understand your point.)

    What about an RP server?

We've got a good community on Landroval, whether you like to RP or not. But my focus has been on trying to build a thriving kin that attracts mature and helpful members and friends. From personal experience I can say you have to put in some effort to build community around you, stick with the people who rise to the challenge and ignore those who don't.

    CJ,

I have to agree with you... the community in LOTRO (at least with my experience) is pretty bad.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE LOTRO. It's a great game and I'm having a blast playing it, but the community certainly puts a damper on it.

I can't tell you how many times people have deliberately taken mobs when I'm headed to one, harvested nodes I've been standing next to killing mobs to clear it, trash talk in chat channels, name calling... it's a mess.  I've been in the barrows either soloing or grouping with a few friends and have seen groups of kinships come in and just clear the whole area, just as you're setting up to pull the Boneman or Malin.  There just doesn't seem to be any sense of community... everyone is out for themselves.

I even recently rolled an alt to start again and see how the lower level community is... it's the same exact way!

It certainly wasn't like this in closed beta.  People were friendly, welcoming, helpful and seemed to be much more friendlier.  The friends I have made on the server mostly agree that the community has more to be desired.

This is on the Elendilmir server.  I know there have been posts at how great the server is, but I guess it's each person's perspective.

I really hope things will change and that the jerks will move on as Jack said.  Otherwise, this could be a game breaker for me.  :(

I would agree that you can not let the voices of the few (The big mouths normally I am sure) over shadow the voices of the many, MMOs have thousands of people on a single server, if you do not like this person or that there are 20 or 30 others that you will like. Just pull back pick a new group and go from there.

If the guy with voice chat is a dick why is he in your group? kick him or get everyone else to leave.

Hmmm ... maybe I should continue my thesis on the Smacktard Constant. Every game suffers from the Smacktard population. As a game grows in population, the concentration of Smacktards increases. Mind you, the ratio of Smacktards to Norms is fairly constant; you simply notice them more now that more people are playing.

    Anywho ...

Like others have suggested, take a break, use the in-game mechanics to ignore offensive people, and possibly you'll need to be a little more proactive in forming your own groups. I've been playing WoW for almost three years, and this is exactly what I've had to do. Although MMOs involve a community, bad members shouldn't affect your enjoyment of the game.

Either way, give it some time. ^_^

Lol, I love your "smacktard thesis". Its oh so true. You need to put more effort into finding the type of player you enjoy gaming with as populations increase. The more people the more boneheads to sift through.

You want a great game community up front, play Ryzom.  LotR is a good game and worth putting a little extra effort into if you like it.

Whole reason I sat back for 2 weeks. I was playin to much and got in with the elitest people who thought they owned the game. Had to not log in for 2 weeks so they could continue waisting their lives and pass me so I could level with more casual people.

thank you all , I will maybe try a new server, or just give melendor a chance, I am thinking of playing monster play so when the bungholes come, I'm a kill'em all

The outside community has always maintained a great vibe

I'm not going to log in until I finsish HL2, had HL2 for over 2 years and never finished it
