So how good is Chapter #6

DeadJesterDeadJester Member Posts: 499

Is it a good sign or a bad 1 when no one is saying how good chapter # 6 is but then again it  mite be so good players are playing it instead of posting on it or so bad they dont want to admite it what do you think  ?

Pve sucks now especially if you are trying to level a character. When a creature that is 20 levels below you can take you out before you have them down to half way  it's pretty stupid.

I haven't tried the other stuff in chapter 6 but I'll do that today.

I'm actually having a great time. My guild and I did a DWB run. It was a success but we did all die in the crafting room except for the crafter. We also did the HK instance which actually seemed unchanged and was still a push over. Personally I've been doing a lot of map hunting which has been a lot of fun for me. I've been doing the hunts solo with a jedi. I need to use every tool possible to beat the elites that spawn but I've enjoyed the difficulty. I can see how it would be much more difficult to grind a toon now, both my characters have been done grinding for quite some time. I think the best course of action may be to up group xp again. I'd hate to see them lower the difficulty of mobs it's a challenge but not overly so.I don't even bother with buffs while I'm on the map quests with my jedi. Jedi may be a little over the top again at the moment though. I'd be curious to hear how other classes are doing. I haven't tried the storyteller , Azure Cabal quests, and I'm Imperial so I haven't tried the new rebel themepark.

I'm loving it so far :)  After so long, new content has finally been added to the game and it's not just content in the form of quests that you can do in a few days.  Instead, it's stuff that will keep you busy for months to come due to the depth it goes into.

Most of my time so far has been spent dealing with the new craftables.  For those that liked the multiple experimentation lines on their craftables, Chapter 6 is probably something you'll enjoy.  Each of the new components has at least 2 lines you can experiment on, some going up to 4 and some lines even have their own specific stat requirements (so one component might be affected by 4 different stats on a resource).  Each profession also has a number of consumables that are somewhat critical to crafting high quality creatures.  There's also alot of interdependancy between the professions.  A bit of a bottleneck at the moment for those trying to get creatures made ASAP, but overall this is a good thing IMO and will become less of an issue as crafters start to catch up with the demad.    If you've been missing this level of detail in crafting, then you might want to come check this out.

I have mixed feelings on the new combat difficulty.  I enjoy that things are challenging again and that all my specials are useful in PvE now, not just PvP.  However, the damage done by a Silver Elite and that done by a Gold Elite doesn't seem to be all that different.  Gold Elites should be as tough as they are, but I think the silver ones need to be dropped down a bit.

Another highlight for me is the fix to the GCW point proc in the PvP zones.  Makes getting GCW points to maintain my rank less of a chore.  Treasure maps also rank up there, the stuff you can get from them is pretty cool :)

i absolutley love it ... so far. the one thing i will say they dropped the ball on was the search engien and teh grouping system. these should have never been left alone. They should have updated these. That alone would have really helped teh low levels, who now really need to group to level.

    so far so good.

I never looked at TC before this chapter came out, so I thought the whole BeastMaster thing was another class. Instead, it seems like a throw back to the old skillbox system where you have the option to put points in that area regardless of your chosen class. So, I think that's kind of neat.

Otherwise, I haven't noticed too much change in difficulty of the creatures, but then my combat toon is pretty low level. Otherwise, I haven't really explored much with my structure trader, but saw a few new schematics which was kind of nice.

I still think there is plenty to fix, but I like the changes I've noticed so far. Now if there were more "degradable" items made by crafters, I think that would go a long way toward making the game more interesting (maybe something like the old "decay" or more useful consumable items).

All in all, this was a nice step forward and I think the current dev team has acknowledged there is plenty more to do. I think that is refreshing and I will probably keep playing this game for a few more months at least (just came back after not playing a few years).

edit: as far as Bloodfin being empty, I was on it off and on throughout the day yesterday and it seemed pretty busy (by current standards). I did not leave tattoine so I can't speak for the whole server. I was just surprised that i was seeing people outside the cities fairly frequently which is not what i expected. That said, this is only my view of how things were and experiences will vary so I am not argueing whether the server seemed empty or not for anyone else.

    Perhaps you've simply miscounted.

In those two regions of Naboo alone, as demonstrated by the /who command, there are significantly more than 14 players.  There are in fact 29 players in the Theed region alone and the other region has more than the /who command can count (more than 32).  And that's not the entire planet of Naboo.

You have to use your character's abilities in order to survive now.  You can access them by opening the ability window (Default : ;) and then dragging the combat abilities to the toolbar.  Afterwhich, when in combat, click on the appropriate buttons to engage the abilities.

The QP said that mobs 20 levels below him were taking him out.  My TRADER can take out mobs 20 levels below her.

SOE simply added difficulty back to combat similar to the way it was Pre-NGE and Pre-CU.  And frankly it's about time.

It's important to remember to keep your mouse cursor over the target. If you don't 5% of your hits just don't land. This can add up to much more than 5% of your damage when specials are involved. I was getting pwned by stuff 13 levels under me before I figured this out.

Now I can handle two creatures at the same time that are up to lvl 70, at level 77. Haven't tried any higher yet.

What really sucks is the forced grouping for quests, with no reward for the people that help you, and no way to find groups. Good luck finding people to help.

I was using everything I had, I'm not a new player. lol I've been playing since launch.

Even on my CL 90 ordinary mobs were difficult. No worries tho, I dropped all my expertise and picked up all BM expertise.

My guild and I are really enjoying Chpater 6 so far. They have created a few creatures and mobs are definitley alot tougher. The higher end instances are a challenge again and NPC's/creatures deathblow on first incap in some instances. I also discovered one of the new Treasure Maps. I heard the mobs were alot tougher and luckily 2 guild mebers tagged along. When we discovered the spot we were attacked by 2 CL92 silver elite Jedi! If it was preChpater 6 I wouldn't have thought much. but man these guys can smack you down now if you aren't ready. It surprised us all but we took them out and received some really nice loot to boot. All in all we are pleased and gaining members all the time. I haven't tried the Azure Cabal or new Rebel themepark yet, they are on the list though.

The only gripe I have is they made my Bolotaur mount smaller.

This is indicative of the soloist.

All of the NGE players are not happy mainly because combat has been pretty simplistic.

Need a grp for hard things...  its fairly obvious now.

Get a guild and work together like nearly every other MMO.

Also there is still plenty of solo content, just cant be expecting to solo gold mobs anymore i have got the feeling there to be raid bosses now. Or grp content only.
  • RainStarRainStar Member Posts: 638

    I've played since launch so.....

It's all mobs not just the gold, elites etc that are difficult especially for new players or players starting new characters.

I am in a guild but that doesn't mean I want to call my guildmates and have them help me take out a gnort. lol

Have to say I am pleased.

Quit because they dumped my CH, admittedly Beast Master is burning through my cash but looking forward to my pet incubation time finishing and trying out my pet.

I have missed SWG and it seems most of the bugs have been fixed, with some new additions.

Was annoyed my Empire rank was reduced to private, so have to start over again.

Combat is deadly, its a challenge even soloing, where terminal missions of the same level or slightly higher are real nail bitters but I really do prefer this. Not tried grouping yet but my bro has started playing again and will try out some harder stuff.

So foods and stims have value again as combat is so hard, elites require a group. Cant seem anything wrong in this at all.

    So far so good.

Now playing: VG (after a long break from MMORPGS)
Played for more than a month: Darkfall online, Vanguard SOH, Everquest, Horizons, WoW, SWG, Everquest II, Eve

I don't have too many issues with most of the non-gold elites on my own.  I just rolled through Tulrus Isle looting enzymes before the server shutdown on my own without too many troubles.

I like chapter 6. I logged into TCPrime and created a character to check it out before it went live. I did the first 9 levels on the station then I started the legacy quest. I made it to level 38 soloing the whole time.

Mobs are harder and you can't take a level 70 Jedi and solo multiple level 90 grauls to level anymore but I think this is a good thing. I loved having to think and really work my way through stuff. I haven't tried the new beast master stuff yet but as soon as I get an incubator I am going to start.

If you really want to know how it is I suggest using a 14 day free trial to check it out.

i am starting to enjoy Beastmaster but the stuff  cost way to much players need to stop being so greedy and start helping others again like in the good old days  but chapter 6 is a great chapter

Been playing since pre-pub 9. I can honestly say this might be the most fun I have had playing this game. The BM system has very deep amount of gameplay . Something I think will keep my interest for many months.

I can not speak about the new quest line, rebel theme park and housing purge minigames, for I have been spending every moment, crafting components for BM, gathering enzymes/DNA, and crafting pets.

This game has made me realize why I enjoyed it in the first place. The depth. BM has more depth to it than any other character type than in any other game I have played.
