My grandfather was a soldier that served at WWII.. It is very wrong that some online game tries to re-create what millions of people suffered..
He used to tell me stories... and no game can re-create anything that happened in WWII.. believe me..
Here's some news for you, most computer games are based on human violence and or suffering in one form or another. My son likes Rome: Total War, are you saying it shouldn't be played because millions were slaughtered and suffered during the Roman empires occupation of Europe, Africa and the Middle East? What about Roma Victor? I'm British and had relatives who were enslaved by Romans, I demand they shut down the servers as it is wrond to re-create such suffering!
In short, take a dose of reality mate. I had more relatives in the first and second World War than I could recount off hand, I had great uncles that were enslaved and forced to work on bridges and railways by the Japanese. I have one Grandfather that was involved in operation Overlord, another that was in India driving fuel tankers he could never look at blood even fake blood on the TV as a kid I thought it was funny. I have great great uncles that were mowed down on the Somme, others that died at Gallipoli but in the end who gives a shit?
People who play these games want to have fun, they don't want to have to suffer me coming online telling them about my relatives who died fighting for thier freedom and how they're commiting an act of heresy by re-creating it online. Besides every single European has family that died during WW1 and 2 so why moan about it, or try to get in some pissing contest about how my family fought more than yours. I'd look at it this way, the fact that we play these games and WW2 games are the most prevelent amongst war gaming is an honour to the men and women who fought (at home and abroad) on both sides of that war. They will always be remembered and no-one will ever forget the suffering that took place, it was an epic event in human history and a turning point for civilization not to re-create it for entertainment or otherwise would be a blasphemey!
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"

Some facts about the people that play the WWIIOL "simulation".
Most are amateur WWII historians at varying levels.
Most are over the age of 30 and had parents that fought in or survived WWII.
Some players served in the military during WWII or are military veterans of more recent conflicts.
Most players admire, respect and attempt to honor the memory of those they represent in-game.
My father, and four uncles served in the U.S. military during WWII, both in the Pacific and European theaters.
The unit I was a member of in WWIIOL, the "Eagle Squadron" (American Volunteer Group, were pilots for the Royal Air Force before America got into the war) actually has a relationship with the official organization of the surviving Eagle Squadron members today. E.S. members took their role as ambassadors of the real Eagle Squadron in online aviation simulations very seriously. Our members are even invited to attend official functions organized for the real Eagle Squadron pilots.
Yes, most WWIIOL players honor the service and sacrifices of those that served during WWII, and that serve today.

this is probably just a troll post. but i don't want you to go hungry so ill feed you.
unless you live under a rock on top of the rocky mountains, the gaming market is saturated with ww2 games. specifically to this game, many of the players are soldiers or retired soldiers. during this year's convention a local veteran's organization (i believe of ww2 vets) attended and spoke at the convention.

War is always glorified even though it's never the case. One good thing a game like this does is it helps people remember what happened and maybe helps to stop it ever happening again on that scale.
My grandfather was a soldier that served at WWII.. It is very wrong that some online game tries to re-create what millions of people suffered..
He used to tell me stories... and no game can re-create anything that happened in WWII.. believe me..
So your saying close all ww2 titles?
You know my grandfather has seen me playing this game and was amazed by it, he used to fly bombers back in ww2. Simple fact is it's a game nothing more saying this game should be closed???
[sarcasm]
Well my great great great x 200 died in a castle siege so all fantasy games should also be closed too.
[/sarcasm]
Now you see what I am getting at.
Everyone can find a reason to want a game closed but it will not happen fact of the matter is history and future are strong titles for games. I have respect for ww2 vets am I insulting them by playing this? nope. More like understanding a verry small % of what they must have gone through.
If you really want to get technical, no game concerning any violence or depiction of war should exist. Nor should most movies. Why? Because someone along the line got hurt/mamed/killed etc.
Its unfortunate that some people do not realise that this is only a game. Thats all it is.
I am a big fan of the Civilization games. Should that be banned? It represents a possible history - mostly through violance, but that is the Human race for you. but is is still only a game.
My Grandfather served at the tail end of WWII, then went into israel after the war. I do not disrespect him, or anyone else that served in any force in the world. Infact, the one thing these games has done has opened my eyes. I have taken the time to learn why countries went to war, and taken the time to learn why countries declared war. And when you learn the overall reasons for anyone doing anything, you'll realise that things are not the way it all seems from a certain perspective.
Too many times I have seem people jump in forums and complain about warfare and computergames. Most concern WWII, but most of these posts made by people are by people who do not understand what they are talking about. Hell, a lot of people dont even know how WWII started.
Whats worse? My grandfather loosing an arm during WWII, or my Father loosing an arm at work? Neither. They are both a part of life, and something neither would choose. However, making a computer game of wars (especially WWII) and trying to make the people of today understand the harshness of what they went through for our freedom, makes me as a player much more grateful of what they did for us.
Hell, I'd rather be sitting behind my PC playing a WWII game, thanking our forefathers for what they have done for us than have our freedom taken from us. Because that is in a sense what you are saying here. We should not have the right to try and understand our freedom, we should just accept it ... and that gets forgotten all too quickly. And that is not what the soldiers of WWII fought for.
I agree more could be said but i dont think its not
necessary : I know back when warbirds ...aces high .and few mopre games I cant remember at this moment that are no longer around ....many a WW2 veteran did play are some are still playing thos games . There was more pride and respect back then then there is now .
I know many vets im a vet my father 30 yrs retired 30 yrs US Air Force was a WW2 / Korea / Vet nam
survivor he was only one out of 5 brothers to survive ww2 and im proud to have had him as my father ...i dont disrespect him I honor him ... games like this do provide some insite to what it was like ..not totaly ..but younger generations might understand just a bit more then they did by just hearing stories games like this gives more insite ....only thing is now most Kiddies today dont care or want to ....hence games go down the crapper ....I for one SALUTE all veterans past and present you cant stop changing generations who never knew men like i have or have a greater respect for im shur there are others who expereance near the same. For thos who have missed it only a few of them will understand or care .
Iv been playing that game from day one and still enjoy Its AcesHIGH 2 . >>> http://www.hitechcreations.com/frindex.html I think most will find it a friendy player base and you like to fly ...its best one going not in a BOX.
Just another post of someone who thinks their opinion is so good that everything should follow to its will. Probably best for us to bid the posts no concern, as their opinion has no power.
Dont get me wrong bought mr T up there .....he did earn a few of thos TOS s lol
As For ww2 oneline game It started off as a great game had full suport of its players
Till it started treating them with such disrespect that it will eventually bring about its own down fall Didn't learn anything from warbirds . But I do believe others have learned it can be done sense other games are in development that are being based on a large player base such as this one .: and probly should thank ww2 for opening the door to such events and games ..and for showing them NOT how to treats its players who are after all its bread and butter .

Do you go around to every WW2 game forum and post this? If so, you'll never be finished.
WW2 wasn't the only conflict that was crappy for American soldiers. Ever heard of Vietnam? I'm pretty sure that one sucked more than WW2.
Complain to the game maker if you don't like it.
Silly complaint, in my opinion.......

I find it even more pervert to play games which are actually simulate current conflicts i.e. iraq conflict ...than a war 60 years ago.

Games might use the same weaponry, but I like it.
To "feel" like being a Soldier and you have to server your country...without actually hurting anyone or being in danger, and losing all the comfort
