oh in PvP its not close at all due to unresistable debuffs. Rad/psi defenders are famed for even turning an EM/ELA brute into mush within seconds 1v1. they rip away our psionic resistances and then just proceed to open up a can of pure pwnage. our only hope is to stun them before they get EF on you and pray they are a noob and dont have any BFs. or kite and kite and pray they run out of BFs lol
I lack at PvP...but...
Well, Energy Melee only take 2 hits to kill any non-tankers/brute. Just try to hit with TF, then follow up with ET. Yeah he will uses a break free, but ET will land before he can click some healing, which means he is dead. If TF is not done properly, or if the opponent is too far for you to follow up fast, then yeah, your in troubles. Getting these 2 attacks close in time with no healing been used by the opponent is the challenge, manages that and he is dead. (so you need to use TF first due to it long animation, then you must somehow understand your opponent enough to know you can finish him fast without him been too far with ET, so he can only have the time to use the break free, nothing else).
Energy Melee stun component is extremely strong. With my EM/Invul I stun an EM/Ela the other day, then finish him before he gets his toggles back. On the rematch he was beating me (he didn't allow me for close contacts too much, so I wasn't able to stack the stun components on him), I hit unstop, he follow up with PS, sure he would beat me...he was unable to finish me with 1 shot when Unstop fade (dull pain duh), and I finish him since PS is extremely bad compared to unstop when it crash, despite messing around...

A really good rad/psi defender will first pop a break free then hit you with EF and all their other devastating debuffs. if you're not in your Tier 9, you'll die nearly instantly. -40% resist rips off all your shields right there. it will remove the psi resist. not to mention the Rad primary debuffs removing all the rest. Also, they can debuff your accuracy- darn near floor it
If you dont have acrobatics or tier 9 up, a powerboosted psiblast will blow u off your feet as well. It goes right through grounded
if a squishy is getting close to someone that has the pink poms poms up they need to be shot. A good rad/psi will most assuredly run superspeed+hurdle+combat jumping+superjump.
fast forward to the end of this flick and watch the fight with EL Ajax from FoL. this is what rad/psi does to em/ela not in their tier 9. even with the tier 9 up u gotta hope the rad/psi stands still and lets ya get some punches in
Well...my reflexes are subpar and my computer is old, so I kinda lack at PvP...however...
No offense, but the player behind the rad/psi is more "skilled" then the ela brute(the player) you show me. And the ela doesn't even have though and weave...add the IO sets bonus and you would see the rad/psi have a much harder time. I am not even sure the ela has demonic...See, if the ela has Mako X 5 and Red fortune X2, the rad/psi won't hit him half the time, without even counting weave...the ela attacks seems to refresh quite slowly as well, you can ET twice per build up...
Grasshoppa can be 2 shotted if he doesn't use temporary powers...I know it!
1 vs 1, the regen scrapper which refuse a brutal frontal strike is the worst nightmare of your ela, you won't stun him, you won't build rage, you won't attack him fast enough to beat his regen...he will wins...it is only a matter of time. Again, it depend which player you take vs which player. The internet connection and the reflexes does matter. Grasshoppa reflexs and internet connect are top notch.
Again, it take a LOT of time for the rad/psi to kill the ela, he has better skills at moving for various reasons and can circle him...2 players with similar skills, he can't circle the other like that, each time he attacks/debuff, he should be attacked back. Each of his attack/debuff have an anime, a good player with similar skills will always close on him and attack, each time he is attacked.
PS: Using an inspiration prior every fight? This guy has to zone out all the time, someone who always use 1 inspiration before a fight is admiting his inferiority and the needs for the inspiration, you can just use a purple yourself and make him curse.
- "If I understand you well, you are telling me until next time. " - Ren
dont forget though rad primary also debuffs defense. his debuffs are autohit + unresistable.
and no one goes weave on /ela for pvp? I've never seen any did IOs make weave worth taking now?
yeah on my squishies id never be caught dead without a break free or a buff from a kin to resist mez (increase density). even on my brute i never went anywhere w/o some BFs for the good trollers out there that know how to stack mezzes
and dont forget the ela brute did beat grasshoppa in part 2 of that film but it was through kiting like I said was the rule of thumb to take one out
I dont think grass can be 2 shot by an em brute with 0 fury. he does has his resist shields and he wont get close to an EM brute without first popping a Break free. it takes fury to 2 shot squishies unless IOs directly buff dmg? maybe IOs changed this? because in part 2 of that vid it took more than two hits to kill that defender. you're either thinking of having Fury- in which no one that knows how to play will let you build- or reds. but if you're using reds u can just one shot anything thats not a Tanker. and dont forget he can insta-heal and he is surely running hasten + accelerated metabolism + hero resist shield + pwoerboost + he has TF as well which will hurt cause u will be fully debuffed. and dont forget he will surely prepop the Break free unless caught off guard.
trust me, rad/psi is one of the best builds 1v1. it debuffs accuracy so you cant hit him. dont forget villains lack +tohit like focused accuracy. it also rips away resists. And yeah id leave the zone to get a break free on a squishy. impossible to pvp without mez resist if theres a good controller around. good ones will get through BFs even
also dont forget Grasshoppa has powerboost. you know Powerboost boosts Leadership meaning he has +tohit and a good amount. And his debuffs are unresistable + autohit. i have a friend that said he popped demonic + tier 9 + some yellows and he took out grasshoppa with his ss/ela brute though. so +def is of some help for sure. however he had Rage up which gave him +tohit is the key. EM Brutes have Stun and a good defender wont let you get off a stun. A bad one will or one that for some strange reason is pvping w/o BFs
but that footage demonstrates a brute without demonic and the tier 9 like i said before in the first place- a rad/psi will melt a brute fast not in a tier 9 power and i was not including the temp powers of course in my statement
<edit> on second thought not sure if I've seen footage of a rad/psi defender fighting an eluded scrapper.... So maybe a lot of +def like Elude or a ton of purples can help. Of course they can always wait or run away til it wears off since u lack range
edit- sorry i meant Power Build up not powerboost. Grass has the optimal build, power buildup, temp invis, conserve power, Leadership pool (tactics/assault), etc. Rad infection debuffs defense and lingering radiation will slow u down making it hard to keep up with him. LR will reduce superspeed to a halt. Btw, also in part I of that film the brute wasn't lvl 50 yet so he lacked demonic til hitting 50. so 1st segment where he got dropped no demonic which takes a lot of grind to get if memeory serves correctly
dont forget though rad primary also debuffs defense. his debuffs are autohit + unresistable. and no one goes weave on /ela for pvp? I've never seen any did IOs make weave worth taking now?
Weave and though are often underated. Let's just say that with Mako X 5, Red Fortune X2, you have more ranged defense then someone using granite (the overpowering tier 9 toggle)...so yeah...weave is good to add on top of this. And granite is the best defense you can get in the game...now if you fight melee characters or AoE targetted attack, all this defense isn't helping you since it isn't range defense...well, except the weave that is ALL.
yeah on my squishies id never be caught dead without a break free or a buff from a kin to resist mez (increase density). even on my brute i never went anywhere w/o some BFs for the good trollers out there that know how to stack mezzes and dont forget the ela brute did beat grasshoppa in part 2 of that film but it was through kiting like I said was the rule of thumb to take one out
The ela runs faster then any defender can as long as he don't abuse super jump and only jump at good moments...and relly mostly on SS. Also, with the stealth IO in sprint, you make the life of a ranged attacker more complicated, they needs to use yellow or to re-acquired target from time to time...which is droolicious for a melee character.
IO gives 17-19% damage buff (up to 25%, but that is daydreaming on an ela, so let's stick with the 19%). You also need to consider build up...it is easy to use build up while closing on a rad/psi that attack you and follow up with an attack, you see an anime, you hit build up while you close in since build up as no animation...finally, you can use 1 red instead and it does the job just fine, 1 red is more then enough. If peoples can use BF at inspirations like candies, you definitely have the right to use 1 or 2 red...and 1 is enought to 2 shots grasshoppa. 2 reds is overkill. Adds the IOs and build up and it become impossibly strong.
trust me, rad/psi is one of the best builds 1v1. it debuffs accuracy so you cant hit him. dont forget villains lack +tohit like focused accuracy. it also rips away resists. And yeah id leave the zone to get a break free on a squishy. impossible to pvp without mez resist if theres a good controller around. good ones will get through BFs even
That depend on the set of course. With my /Invul I have never been mez by any controller on 1 vs 1, only effect they where able to land where FEAR and CONFUSE, neither is really that bad...FEAR means he will attack you next, then you hit him...Confuse mean you need to re-acquire the target between each hit.
Villains can use + accuracy from IOs, kismet for example give a +6%, many powers can give between 7% to 9%, and you merely loses a 2% or 3% of the damage I mentionned above in the worst case scenario. The accuracy debuff is useless on a fully developped character unless they have a good defense...which isn't the case of Grasshoppa, I would always hit him if I attack him(which I wouldn't be able to do, bad connection and reflexes, but I would never miss him, no matter his debuffs).
also dont forget Grasshoppa has powerboost. you know Powerboost boosts Leadership meaning he has +tohit and a good amount. And his debuffs are unresistable + autohit. i have a friend that said he popped demonic + tier 9 + some yellows and he took out grasshoppa with his ss/ela brute though. so +def is of some help for sure. however he had Rage up which gave him +tohit is the key. You have build up as an ela, which is better then Rage. And when you fight someone like grasshoppa, just before you close the distance to catch him you click build up, it won't even slow the attack unless you can't see it coming in advance, in which case you rather attack, but you know that you lack if you can't see the closing moment ahead of time and deserve defeat anyway.
but that footage demonstrates a brute without demonic and the tier 9 like i said before in the first place- a rad/psi will melt a brute fast not in a tier 9 power and i was not including the temp powers of course in my statement
Fast is relative...it took Grasshoppa at least 5 to 10 attacks to kill the brute...a brute only needs 2 attacks with a build up while closing the distance...since the ela move around faster then a defender could ever...again, it depend on the player skills at moving around.
<edit> on second thought not sure if I've seen footage of a rad/psi defender fighting an eluded scrapper.... So maybe a lot of +def like Elude or a ton of purples can help. Again, a /Regen scrapper is the ultimate set for PvP, if well played...such a scrapper must refuse brutal frontal combat with a brute, and it would eventually land a critical hit that would kill the brute badly...while the brute stand no chance at bypassing the regen of a remotedly unefficient kitting battle...I have no idea of the EF impact on the /regen, but I do know the critical hits is better then the rage building of a brute, so even easier to 2 shots.
The only time I see a /regen scrapper loses against a brute, he accepts frontal battle which is a mistake. The brute without building up his rage can't really think of taking down a /regen...
Once, I was fighting a /regen...he panick when I uses Unstop...and he runs behind his friend...they both where building my rage...so I kill him...because he accept frontal combat. A regen should never accept frontal battle with a brute, his critical hits works, rage doesn't...and he regen in the meanwhile without doing anything...which mean he has a special ability with critical hit while his opponent has nothing.
A brute can always find the spiderling in Warbug to build his rage and defeat an opponent, they may think you run away while in fact, you just go get some rage...try to look noobish and unsure, kinda looking like panicked...they will close on you, run in a corner with the spiderling beating on you. Jump a lot and manage to be blocked and stuck in the corner while all the spiderling built your rage......he will laugh and think he is about to kill you, approach to kill you...then smash, kills him with all the rage you built...he will prolly not even notice the build up. (carefull, you may need to use either demonic, tier 9 or some inspirations to survive the damage of the spiderling and the player who try to finish you).
HInt for noobs PvPers like me: uses auto-follow...not good against good PvPers (Grasshoppa would beat anyone using it), but if you lack a lot and learn some stuff, it may help you get to understand some stuff until you figure how to move in PvP.

some good points here but once it gets the red text you know u annoyed someone to the max hehe. so i respectfully had to bow out especailly seeing im currently not active in CoX

because its really the only way to settle what AT can beat what. its kind of good because then it helps us all learn how it really goes down. on the net ppl tend to get hostile at somepoint. but when you see each others toon in the Arena man its so weird ive never seen two pvpers walk away from a pvp match and not have some respect
sure they might come back on the official Area forums and boost a little but usually they always have respect. not always
my last Arena challenge was a weirdf one. and yeah i of course fully agree I think /regen scrappers #1 in 1v1 fights man. but there's a lot of factors as always that determines the outcome like what they're fighting, etc. there's a lot of -regen floating around these days. my /regen only 34 and only really fought them 1v1 with my brute (em/ela). I used to get them to fight me upclose, buildup fury, then jump into the air, pop 2 reds, then seal their fate before they could pop recon. much more doable if u got the Hami-O recharges slotted to get 2 ETs in there. cold corrupters really good though they provide a good fight. wont say who'd win but its a good fight. I used to like mine
ive seen masterminds tear up regens post-bodyguard and it was hella fast. made my brute just feel.......... this was the ideal scenario tho like if the MM got all his Bots with him.
just all depends I guess. my pvp knowledge is starting to go downhill guess it been awhile for me.
