firefly and multiverse

Has anyone played any games from this multiverse company? it seems to me that they throw together a graphics engine and then just put games together. I have a feeling that the firefly mmo is gunna flop because of this company, I think fox would have been better off selling the license to SOE. Also(I cant find it again) i read somewhere that its going to be a 2008 release, yet there website has no concept art, no information about the game. I hope i'm wrong about this company :(

    I wish people would do some reading before they go pointing fingers and making accusations, your entirely wrong, multiverse is a company providing the Firefly MMORPG with their game engine, no developers have been selected yet but 20th Century Fox are the folks who are in charge of publishing it, adding to that, the multiverse game engine is distributed for free but if a subscription is made on the game they ask for a 10% share of the profits made. The game is still in the very early concept stages and hasn't even found itself a developer company yet to work on it the link to the site with news and a forum can be found here firefly-mmo.com/f-mmo-news.html



    now that I think on it the reason it's not listed on any sites yet is probably because they don't have any developer yet so what would be the point of putting it on if they don't even know whether it will exist or not? Like I said it's in very early concept, the articles I've read said that fox want it out in 2008 but I'm guessing it'll be late 2008 since they haven't found a developer yet.



    I've been watching this game very closely and I'm sure quite a few others will too, long live the browncoats!



    I think that MMORPG.com should take a look at this one though, I bet they could with the resources they have but well, like I said, we don't even know if it'll exist yet or not.

    oh I did not realize that, I thought multiverse was the developer...but thanks for clearing it up! i'm happy again :)

    hehe i have always gone with the military regime of MMOs that are cut that way

    SWG i went imperial

    AO i went omni

    and Firefly i will go... ALIANCE!!!



    i fact that has led me to discover many facts about real life and that type of government.

    the one i played the most SWG (pre-Cu of course) i was purely imperial (in those times you had only 1 character slot so you felt like you belonged in that faction)

    i no longer see them as good and evil, i see them as  a government whos intent is the best for every one. (i dont favour that type though) when you get into it, you see it that you are doing good, you kill a rebel because they disrupt peace. all you want is peace, and the way to do it is using war.

    i realize that that is a dictatorship but note this

    in starwars and firefly the rebels/browncoats will call the other side evil and their side good, but the Alliance/Imperials will never say it is a fight of good and evil. they wil say they disturb the peace, they want what is best for every one.

    0k21 is right, but here are a couple more details:

    - The Multiverse engine is still in beta, so the screenshots (of games other than Firefly, I mean) that are available aren't even from a finished engine, forget a finished game. There's an interview with one of the Multiverse devs from earlier this week here: http://www.warcry.com/news/view/72012-Interview-Ron-Meiners-of-Multiverse. There was another interview with the same guy in April, here: http://www.tentonhammer.com/index.php?q=node/709 and he said that they haven't picked anyone to make the Firefly game yet. Who goes out and gets a license before their engine is done??

    - Multiverse has an official board for the Firefly game here: http://update.multiverse.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=16&theme=multiverse&sid=56c992ed330b231f6340ac945b8e0442 but they haven't posted anything about it there, it's mostly just people arguing about what they want the game to be like.

    Also, there's a sticky post there and one of the last responses calls this game vaporware. No reply from Multiverse at all. They announced this game last December, so it's been six months and they still don't have a developer? WTF, no game devs want to make a Firefly MMORPG? Or maybe its cuz Mutliverse is still in beta, so no one wants to work with them yet?

    - One of the places where Multivesrse said that they will release Firefly in 2008 is in the comments here: http://www.raphkoster.com/2006/12/07/about-that-firefly-mmo/. "To respond generally to one common concern: we’ll have something that consumers can play in 2008. It’ll be at least a beta. And yep–we want to have an experienced team make this. " That was posted six months ago (Dec. 11), and they haven't been able to find an experienced team yet? There's like six months left until 2008, or 18 months until the end of 2008 -- theyre going to make a whole MMORPG in 6 - 18 months?!? WTF?

    I'm really starting to think vaporware too. Which pisses me off because Firefly deserves better.

    Btw, I got all the news and links for this from http://fireflymmo.com. They seem to have the best collection of the news on this. I'm just waiting for the day when I check there and see the news that the Firefly MMORPG has been canceled.
