Best Computer Gaming Magazine?

MerodocMerodoc Member Posts: 227

I have very little doubt in my mind that the best Computer Gaming Magazine is PC Gamer. It always has the best scoops, articles, and Hard Stuff articles ever. I think that in second comes Computer Gaming Monthly, then Computer Games, and at the bottom of the list Maximum PC, the crappiest of them all. I was wondering what everyone elses thoughts about this are.

I hope you're talking about the old editing staff for PC Gamer. The new staff (I say new as in they came along 3 years ago) sucks. They're in their 30's and 40's and they live in apartments with each other!! That, and they're perverts. I could quote from a recent magazine issue but it would be too crude and vulgar. The old staff was great. They ate KFC and had parties. AND HAD MORALS!!! image

My honest opinion is that they are all crap now.   I know these magazines need advertisements to make money but almost half the magazines are filled with garbage.   I currently get PC Gamer, CGM, GamePro and a few others.  When I saw the 10 year anniversary edition of PC Gamer I laughed my arse off.  It was one of the thinnest (page wise), time wasted, crappy article filled mags I have ever seen from them.   I do long for the good ol days when PC gamer had mags of over 300+ pages.

Also by the time you get these mags everything is old news as you can any info instantly via the net.

i get computer gaming world and pc gamer, i dont know how i got pc gamer, it just kind of started showing up. i really like computer gaming world though, especially scorched earth and the tom vs... crap i forget the other guy. but its that section that makes me want to get into rts's. i never really use either demo disk unless i happen to have not downloaded something on them by then. its just got some neat features, and is easier to read and has a better layout than pc gamer.

I agree with hercules. I get a lot more valid and unbiased info off the net.

Though, I don't mind picking one up to read while in a waiting room some where, but I wouldn't pay for a subscription.
