Is anyone else frustrated and why?

kymekyme Member Posts: 411
Since the Combat Upgrade in Star Wars Galaxies, I have been completed frustrated with the whole mmorpg industry. Is there any other game ever that has been destroyed as badly as the original SWG? About a year ago I became excited about Star Trek Online. Then I read somewhere there will be no ship interiors. Is this true? My gaming, something that I enjoy very much as been unsatisfactory since the Combat Upgrade in SWG. I play Dark Age of Camelot now less than 4 hours a week and my role playing enjoyment has hit an all time low.

Here is something I want to express. If you are a game maker do NOT do NOT do NOT make cookie cutter classes. The imbalance is the only thing that brings enjoyment. By cookie cutter, I am not talking about the appearance, I am talking about abilities, each character should be unique in abilities, I know it is more difficult to balance, but even if it is not balance perfectly just do it. And after the non cookie cutter classes are complete make a crafter/mining class that was present in pre-cu SWG. That is all I wanted to say. Thanks.

Yeah, sort of felling the same way currently.

I'm just plain bored to death. Stopped playing WoW ~6months ago, this time finally. Then started CoH/CoV, stopped, trialed all sorts of MMORPGs, and am still bored to death.

It's like...I dunno, a huge Void that suddenly opened inside myself, which sucks every feeling of enjoyment down into it's infinite depths.

    Life is stupid :-/

Then I thought to myself: "Heck..gaming ain't everything...now I'll try this "RL" many people are speaking of"...

Only to realize all my Buddies I know are Gamers theirselves...even those I know in RL...

So yeah, "frustrated" is the right word for how I'm currently feeling...

For my gaming I've gone to FPS, I'll be trying out WW2 online soon as that seems to be a good mixof MMO and FPS.

Did I state that my work starts at the end of August, so that I have some 3 free months of pure boredom ahead of me? ^_^

sadly I know your pain.  I played Galaxies first.  After working my tail off to create a support character... a sniper for cover fire, I found out the game was so very skewed to 3 types of archetypes it wasn't funny.  Three months of rifle training was passed in three weeks of tera kasi training.

Next came coh/cov for almost two years.  I have to say this is still may favorite mmo so far.  I loved the mission system and focus on working together as a team.  I'm not a solo player and prefer keeping others alive to glory.  The downfall came when eventually there just wasn't more to the game.

Now I'm living in the WOW universe.  I like the complexity of the game, but I find the playing boring.  The quest system and 3 hour plus length of instances make it tough for a week night drop in.  I loved the auction house, but now find looking at equipment that it is a stat driven number crunched leveler dressed up like new stuff.

Please someone make a game that has the mission system of COH/COV where team play can be engaged in for and hour to a day.  With that add a complex world with a lot of character specialization of powers or abilities.  Rather than my stamina point being increase by 3 at level 40 so it makes a .04% boost to my defense and dodge, give me the ability to trip, slow, confuse, daze, burn, or scare an opponent.  Make the combat system in a way that the special attacks aren't just a chain of buttons but timed and blocked, and have an impact on the opponent.  Really I don't know how to make a balanced game with a lot of diversity, but I get tired quick of dressed up number crunching.

I love the hobby.  I just wish it would grow along with us.

*Yuck* I don't hope so... I love gaming... but somehow all current games are boring to me...

Let's hope that this is only temporary...wouldn't like to have to search for a new hobby o_O...

WAR has to release, then I'm all back into it again

I actually looked at Pirates of Caribbean last night and I think it sounds fun. We also have EQ2, Guild Wars, Ultima Online reborn, and WoW.

I think you guys are just real hesitant to buy into games and try them. I understand ya miss the old ones and heck I miss old Ultima so bad it is crazy but ya got to give others a chance.

Be cool to people, and try and stay cool that way you never have to regret making someone feel bad. Don't take what ya got granted because some people never get to feel happy. We get to play these great MMOs and surf a good site. Be thankful for what ya got and next time ya feel down imagine a fat sea otter waddling with a pillow and a night cap. Bam! smiles!

Play Saga of Ryzom. It's a open sandbox game with a skill based system for combat as well as a skill based crafting system that is the best out there IMHO. Why complain when there is already a game out there for you to play?

Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2.

Saga of Ryzom is "skill" based, but it'  is totally different than UO's skill system. I would call Ryzoms skill system between normal leveling system and UO's Skill system. Mostly because it feels more leveling system, than like UO's skill system.
