Vista also is much larger OS than XP. In part that is why it does run slower. I prefer XP and Firefox for my browser. When I need speed I switch to my partitioned drive and use Linux.
Upgrading from XP to Vista is like putting a fartpipe on a Dodge Viper.
It will make your car sound louder and "faster" but you probably won't notice much of an increase in horsepower. In fact, the fartpipe might knock your horsepower down a few knotches, but at least it will sound cool and aggressive!!
Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!
Instead of just throwing out half-assed answers and responses, it would have been a good idea to ask him what his current system specifications are.
So I ask, what do you currently have in your system?

A friend just bought a new laptop with Vista on it, it ran like crap. He uninstalled Vista and put XP on, ran like a breeze. I'm not buying Vista.
