NC Soft copying Blizzard?

Now now dont get all hyped up trying to defend the company you like better lol



What i mean by this is.. you know how before blizzard release anything they announce it like 2-3 years in advanced (announcing tbc a year and a half ago) just so they can get a bigger fan base before bringing out the game and so it can build suspense?



well NC Soft never used to do this, they used to announce a game and after a few months it would come out but with recent titles you will see that they are also trying this same technique...

- aion a year and a half ago and still barely any news

- gw2 beta in 2008

- very very little news on l2



ok NC Soft we understand that the money you guys are racking in with your old titles are making you guys millions but for the gamers that have been loyal to you guys please buy more man power and work a little harder

tho i do agree they need to put a lil more man power into the things they already have out.

Whether they announce them or not... you still have to wait for them.  If a company wants to announce a game they are working on 20 years ahead of schedule, let alone 3, who cares??  Does it really bother you that much?  lol

Reading your post i understand that you dont know nothng about NCsoft.

First of all you cant compare Blizzard with NCsoft. Americans vs Koreans. NCsoft realease most of game versions first in korean language, not english like Blizzard. NCsoft is biger and working to more then 8 games same time. Blizzard lost some peopls because of  bad company politic, those peopls ar developing new games without any Blizzard help. Use google if u want info about NCsoft games.  Ex: Aion already CB stage, only for Aion creativity team NCsoft use more then 100 peopls. If u wana try a paralel betwin wow and lineage 2 or guild wars 2 , Li2 and GW got more updates. Some of NCsoft games ar f2p with item shop or only game pack, Blizzard is taking 100% money for WOW. That show NCsoft money politic is  for all type of players. Thats why Blizzard say that WOW is for peopls with 12 years age. They wana rull all, even if WOW have tomuch violence even for a 16 years old kid.  You dont have any reason to compare NCsoft with Blizzard, because the only thing that they have betwin them is developing games and nothng else.

And to OP: trying to get to bigger public is a bad idea? And that's copying Blizzard now? Just LoL, nothing to add.

Using Starcraft 2 is a bad example, they started production in 2003 yet they did not annouce it then. Lineage 2 was actually annouced more a few months before it was out. Not only has Blizzard done this, all other companies show it off early sometimes to get a fanbase.

what REALLY sucked back in the day (which was a wednesday), is that games were announced and there werent any forums or game sites for that matter to even track to see what a games development stage was at!  Well, until America Online.. then hopefully the game developer might have some sort of public forum set up for people to post things on.  (reminsces to the small community following daggerfall, and actually using their demo for the game as a beta and troubleshooting things with bethesda)

This is silly.  City of Heroes was announced around September of 2001 (I remember the time period for what should be obvious reasons) and the game launched April 2004.  That's a two and a half year lead and I think was prior to when Blizzard announced WoW.



So, no, NCSoft is most definitely not copying Blizzard in this respect.  It's just a normal part of business for companies making MMOs and has been for quite some time.

They have a similiarity.  There is a portion employed by NCSoft that used to be on the Blizzard payroll when NCSoft opened office in Irvine.  Also they are the Top of the MMO world.

Unfortunatly Blizzard didn't have the BEST MMO out there with WoW, but it did set the limits for many other games. People got spoiled when they played WoW and now that it has kind of set that standard, people will automatically go into an MMO and say "No avatars like WoW, No BG's like WoW, no glowy spells like WoW" etc. It just happens now that it has basically dominated the market.

People tend to using the words copying and cloning frequently describing the similarities of two games and generally they tend to think of the most recognizable game first to see similarities between them before WoW everyone was always saying companies were copying or cloning EQ really that's not completely the case what they're actually doing is mimicking them to a certain degree most new games all try to have some unique qualities to them the other games don't while continuing to strengthen upon the things the players react positively to. That's why open pvp games are a niche genre some people love them especially when done right which can be a difficult thing to accomplish, but many more people dislike them and thus why they're generally left on the back burner as far as game development goes.



As for blizzard and ncsoft they're two very different companies ncsoft has a lot more resources than blizzard and in the mmorpg genre has been around far longer it's silly to even assume they're not trying to put there own creative spin on games so what if they mimic WoW it was a successful game from a company standpoint and they're a business in game development to make money as is blizzard. Blizzards success with WoW relied heavily on polishing what everyone liked about EQ and mixing in a priorly successful franchise of there's. What it really boils down to is who cares just as long as the gaming is fun and hopefully a  bit refreshing as well.

hehe..there is no need for any developing game company or successfull game company to announce or not announce what they are doing.....we ALLLLLLL know what will/is going to happen anyway....the ONLY ONLY ONLY thing that they are basically announcing is the "name" of their own EQ/DAOC template with 1 or 2 extra new bells or whistles they will add to 'hopefully'(more than not) set themselves apart from all the other up-and-coming EQ/DAOC clone releases.

same ole same ole.....on a 3-5 year cycle.
