I am very curious as to what different sort of themes you can have for your heroes. Im sure that there is the usual superman batman look, but what about like Spawn? Is there that sort of thing? Im just trying to figure out if this is worth buying. I was never really into the flashy Superman look, cept Spiderman, even then i liked him better in his venom look... Anywho, just curious as to what different super hero styles there are. I would appreciate the info thanks!

You can making flashy guys in spandex, but so far I have found them to be one of the least common looks. If anything the most common styles I see are the darker heroes. Due to the large amount of spikes, wide range of demonic horns and even a little devil tail, there do seem to be alot of demons wandering around (ok i am guilty of making at least one demon myself) There are also alot of parts available for hi-tech warriors, martial artists, dark mages and soldier style characters and heaps of robotic parts including whole robotic arms.
Don't worry about going there and seeing the justice league around every corner, I never read marvel comics either, the closest I got to that style of thing was Batman in some of his darker incarnations, and from what I see around paragon city it seems the dark side has drawn alot of other people in too
Muahahahahaha
The variety is impressive, but no capes (or trenchcoats).
You can get tuxedos in all kidas of colors though.
Yout can pick your helmet style, helmet accesories, clothes accessories, everything.
The sky is the limit really.
That is one of the most impressive things about CoH..the different looks. I never ran into someone that looked like someone else.
My only complaint with costumes...no capes.

Capes are hard to do well. basicly you have 2 options to do an easy cape, either 1: stiff as a board capes (DaoC, WoW) or non-sizable avatars and no projecting parts (Tails, Spikes) or you have horrible clipping issues with any generic cape.
To add capes to CoH they are going to have to create, at a guess, around 100 diffrent actual capes for each visible cape with an invisible process replacing the cape with the appropriate one for what ever combination of parts/accessories is added to the avater, even then they may have a few clipping issues or capes that are permanently bellowed out to keep from clipping arms/legs/tails.
That being said, the last info I saw on capes was they are working on them and will add them when they don't suck anymore. Cryptic seems to be very strict about what is released and what is held for later updates.

The Character customization option is amazing. I've never played a game with so many choices. If your looking for a unique look you'll deffinately find it in this game. And seeing an exact duoble of yourslef is quite unlikely (unless you purposely do it with a fried like I have with one character ).
Although you can let your imagenation go loose on this character creation. I have seen quite a few comic hero rip offs ( tons of hulks, wonder woman, superman (without the cape), and Even Dr. Suese (sp on that) and Thing 1, Thing2 with an additional Thing3). The scariest thing about most of these is players can make exact duplicates (or very very close) of the real superheroes.
As far as your question about a spawn type hero. I think you can do something like him since there are tons of organic skin designs and outfits, but I for some reason can't picture exactly what spawn looks like in my mind at the moment (too much cramming for Finals at college, it's pushed all the useful stuff (like comic book/ superheroes out of my head)). Anways if your looking for a game that's different than anyother MMORPG out on the market right now I would advice City of Heroes. Go on the COH forum here and on their meeage boards to get a better idea on whether you like the game or not. Well, off to take a Microbiology final X.x TTyL TTFN!

some ive seen, besides your usualy super hero looks. lm not saying these are good, just showing the variety

I must say that the character creation screen is by far the best i have seen on any game, multi-player or single player. The actual options to customise your characters skills etc arent too great (though there are enough), but there are millions of different combinations of looks that you can have, you can sit and click on the random button for hours and not find 2 look-a-likes show up. And i have never seen 2 people designed the same, even if they are both going for a specific look (IE: wolverine clones in the beta)
People can look like bugs, aliens, rock men, naked men, metal men (including robot parts), electric men, business men (i even saw one guy in jeans and t-shirt with yellow builders hat, which looked strangely cool).
I think there arent too many standard looking hero's about because the scope for creating a dark style character is so great, there are just so many great looks to choose from.
4 stars sucks i want my 5 stars back!
