What the heck is Blizzard doing?

I've been playing World of Warcraft for about a year now and at first the game was really fantastic. Coming from Ultima Online, this game was so much different that it was refreshing to try something brand new. I leveled up an undead priest, an orc warlock, and more recently, a blood elf mage. Once I hit the cap I ran into a brick wall, so to speak. Keying and doing raids is all fine and cool with me but there is one thing I simply cannot understand. Reputation grinding. Pre-BC there was some rep grinds like Cenarion Circle and Argent Dawn but there wasn't that many. Argent Dawn was actually not bad since you could gain a ton of rep running Scholomance and Stratholme which, in my opinion, were amazingly fun.

Then BC finally arrives. We all have high hopes, and Blizzard certainly adds a lot of new content. The problem is not only is this new content the same stuff we have seen in the past, but it is actually a LOT worse than pre-BC 60 content. Hellfire ramparts? Slave Pens? Auchenei Crypts? These instances are linear, have few quests, and most importantly, boring. Once you hit 70 it's time for Shadow Labyrinth. Unlike instances like UBRS however, the majority of the player base HATES this instance. What happened to fun level cap content? And look at some of the useless reputation they have added. Thrallmar? Why isn't that just Horde/Orgrimmar rep? Cenarion Expedition? Should be Cenarion Circle. They add new rep just to keep us busy.

Now the new patch is out, and guess what? MORE REPUTATION GRINDS! Another Shattrath City reputation? Did we really need that? From reading the WoW forums it seems like people are generally against rep grinds yet they add more! Do any of you guys feel the same way I do? Sorry for the rant but I was really hoping for a reason to come back and play and I am disappointed again.

What kind of grinding would you want to see in the next expansion?

they waited too long to bring out an expansion to be honest and to increase the 60-70 mark.

2 years of level 60 is a long time.

They started mucking about with guild housing/housing back in WoW beta, there's still an island name that pops up when you swim west from booty bay. It was basically the developers island.

Amusingly blizzard put in all the old models of humans in Old Hillsbrad instance (CoT) in southshore.

They  can do so much especially at fixing the world and making flying mounts viable in Azeroth, but that'll require more time and almost a complete rewrite of some pieces of code. Most we can hope for, is more expansions, a few more areas. Another battleground (maybe with a faction this time). To be honest, they're almost at northrend and it'll be all over soon.

Until blizz announces their "next-gen" MMO which will have no connecting franchise (they killed any warcraft lore that they had built in W3)

That is one thing that always used to crack me up.  People would constantly remind me how they loved WoW so much because leveling was so easy.  Leveling in WoW is not like other games in that you have to spend alot of time to earn it.  What humors me is that level 60 is nothing more then a short amount of time spent in the game.  There is still a HUGE grind when it comes to the endgame.  Such as gear and rep, which are to say "the real achievements".  So regardless of what people think, WoW is still a grind in its own rights, and sadly I think I enjoyed the leveling grind more than the instance/raid grind.
