Just thought i would mention looks like they activated all accounts for a month
so i'm back baby and loving every minute of it, and thats 4 years since release. Surprised how much fun it still is! Even though the population is down still some decent fights happening.
So if you ever played / had an account get your asses back in. Cant hurt!

I enjoyed planetside quite a lot, but got a bit bored when it was same old, nobody defending about, everying running off, leaving me as a poor CE with my turrets and mines to defend.
tho flying and strafing was quite fun, and sniping.
This is why I recently came back a month or so ago as well. No other MMO give me as much exhilaration as this one does, and in my opinion is the only true PVP MMO out there. If you are a HA rexo and come across another HA rexo, you are both on equal footing and skill will determine the outcome. If you are fighting against the NC, you will not find your opposition carrying a "+35 JackHammer of Noob Slaying"...it's just a JackHammer, against whatever HA you happen to be carrying. Your skill with the weapons at hand is the deciding factor.
I liked planetside alot, but it was not deep enough for me.
There should be more skills / levels and more long term changes to the environment. ( like relics in DAOC )
So basically it was alot of fun, but got old too fast, not enough depth.
If it was a regular free to play game at the time, I would have revisited more then once I am sure.

Yeah I was trolling around in the TR beta last night and someone mentioned that Sony had been reactivating old accounts. All the shooting in TR made me miss some PS action.
It is still a friggin blast.. Nothing quite compares. I really look forward to whatever game in the future expands on this type of gameplay. A bit more depth for characters would certainly be welcome, but the game has made great strides since release.
Working on my gold hacking support badge.. It is so addictive =P

I am sad to report there is no forum of trial at this time; however this is slated to change (Reserve system, basically F2P with limits).
But, i can assure you that this game is very fun... pay for a month, if you don’t like it, you can call me names.
If you already has an all accesses pass, then you only need the software.

i completly agree...
i came back after a few years and i am having a blast.
i miss not having my old battle rank and Cr. it REALLY sucks starting all over again...but the plus side...is i have something to work for again.
After looking into the game and reading things on here i have decided to give planetside a go (givng you vets some fresh meat) just waiting for it to come in the post now
if anyone has any tips i welcome them 
my first advice for a noobie is to try as many specs as you can to figure out ur style of play. You can learn and unlearn as many times as you want for your first 7 days. you don't start with a very high battle rank, so your certification points are limited. so make sure you got a combo that works for you so u can get as much exp as you can.
also...the training rooms in your empires sanctuary is a must. most people think they can pick it up as they go. they are partly right. But going to the training room will level you up. every gun you try, every armor you wear, every item you use gives you XP. usually 100 per item-ish. try everything the VR room lets you try. then move on to the vehicles room. vehicles room takes longer to get the XP, but is easy way to lvl up again. every ride you try, gives you XP. but don't stop there! each gunner TYPE on a vehicle gives xp. so hop into the gunner chair too. after you try the land ones, cross the bridge and look for the flying vehicle terminal. and do the same thing.
that should net you about 2-3 extra battle ranks. thus 2-3 extra certs to play around with...
