what the apologists don't understand is that by continuing to play and pay for this game, they are, in essence, encouraging ccp to continue cheating. why? because ccp is still making a profit, therefore, they MUST be doing something right, no reason to change!
Nah, that doesn't sound right. Why would one think they want bad publicity rather then positive one.
I would think more of both you and CCP. I think you both to be more profound then that to be completely honest. What you say would be very shortsighted. Would have been alot easier to say that they are stupid, and it would be easy for me to call you stupid for believing that you are right in your assumption. But I dont because I dont think that you thougth your opinion out on this one.
---
Ofcourse ccp will 'still' make a profit regardless of what stunt they pulled one,two or even three weeks ago. Their concern would be to make a profit one, two or more years from now. Does that mean that they can do whatever they want, perhaps so, I would think that they act in a manner as they seem fit for their long-term plan for this game. That is something that one only can look back on after some time passed to judge if things was right.
You think they can do the wrong things, take wrong turns, and still have enough sub to do what they want. Nah.
You think they are more interested in making a grand profit overtime rather than a measly buck or two at one point. Yeah.
But this is more of the common sense category and should just be noted in paranthesis.
except, they didn't pull a stunt 1-3 weeks ago. they've pulled stunts for years and continue to pull said stunts. so what i said is proven by the test of time already.
could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?
For most players this is irrelevant. They are busy playing the best MMO. Since all the point's are either highly blown out of proportion or simply wrong thats the best thing to do anyway. Just play and have fun and ignore the hooligan nubtards.
Arguing about this is futile. If you think the grass is greener on the other side you simply lack expirience in the MMO landscape. Go play other MMO's and learn.
an ignorant statement, by definition would be a statement made in which the speaker is uneducated (or "incorrect") on the topic at hand.
how is it possible that actions (cheating, both for and against) DIRECTLY affecting 1/3rd to 1/2 of the paying population have no effect on the game?

The majority disagree with you. For starters, look at the rankings. Secondly, look at subscriptions. They have not hit their record number since T20 cheating news broke. Thirdly, the majority of players who play Eve, also do other things while playing, why? Because Eve online is boring...mining, missioning, salvaging, most of it is boring as hell, and that is the meat of the game....
The game is not that complicated. Don't let people trick you into thinking it is. UO has more depth than this game. throw stuff on ships, blow stuff up, its pretty simplistic. If you don't have the skills to fly something, note what it is, buy the stuff to train, click the thing you just bought to train up to the required level......
========================== The game is dead not, this game is good we make it and Romania Tv give it 5 goat heads, this is good rating for game.

I think you should just quit EvE then, no? On a sidenote, can you honestly say EvE is easier than your average "target and press q to attack" MMO? You need to be pretty intelligent to make it big on the market alone and become a tycoon. You need to be strategically and tactically smart to win wars. You need to be smart to pick your fights. Every mistake you make will be an expensive learning expirience.
EQ, EQ2, Vanguard, WoW, Horizons, SWG, AO... I played alot of games, and they all were basically based upon the same idea of "target and press q to attack" Apart from the genre and setting, you can't compare those games. Skill was determined by who can joust the best in some of them, others dont even require you to joust.
On a sidenote, can you honestly say EvE is easier than your average "target and press q to attack" MMO?
Of course it is.
You don't even need to "target and press q" to advance in EVE. Just log in every once in awhile to change skill training, sell some GTCs, and you have it made.

Well uhm. Can I point you to the "Just log in every once in awhile to change skill training, sell some GTCs, and you have it made."
You mean in actually not really playing the game. You are actually not doing anything. You just a number in the online statistic, more then anyone else. Yeah the game is pisseasy.
On a sidenote, can you honestly say EvE is easier than your average "target and press q to attack" MMO?
what is so hard about Eve Combat? throw what you can on a ship, fight stuff by targeting and pressing few keystrokes to attack stuff? I forget if the keystrokes was F1 or the number keys, but it wasn't that difficult....all your doing is activating your weapons to attack, most people set the weapons to autofire once they are toggled........is there a huge difference between pressing Q or your number/F1 keys?
people like to delude themselves into thinking Eve online has alot of depth.
Its a relatively simplistic game. UO has more depth........what is so hard about mining, go over to ore, hit a key to activate your miners, move the ore into a container, keep moving until asteroid is depleted, move to another one.....have you or a buddy transport container full of ore to station.....
========================== The game is dead not, this game is good we make it and Romania Tv give it 5 goat heads, this is good rating for game.
Who cares if the people that made the game also cheats to win, after all it's their game and you are just lucky to be able to give them money to play it.

From what I've been reading on the forum, this is exactly how CCP views their game.
If you feel this is acceptable behavior, by all means, go play EVE.

I SO hope you come to VALE space and try that tactic in battle against me. LOL just throw what you can on the ship....
You have no clue how different fittings affect how the ship flies and fights. How different weapons have different abilities and uses in combat. How even just loading different ammunition in the same weapon can drastically alter the outcome of any given fight. Of how important staying at your best range while denying your opponent their best range is? Or of the importance of combat tactics and strategy? The importance of having Electronic Warfare ships, tackler ships and logistics ships.....
Tell you what... play EVE and get involved in PVP. Then come back and tell me how little depth EVE combat has.
In PVE? Yeah you can pretty much do anything you like (well at least till you hit level 4 missions) and you will probably be fine. But once you hit level 4's you better have learned how to properly fit your ship and about damage types, optimal range and how to deal with various different enemy tactics. Because if yo haven't your expensive little ship is going to get blown up.

I get really tired of these cheating accustations. There is zero proof of any of that beyond one incident last summer. It was dealt with. Anyone with any intelligence can see through the smear campaign by the goons and realize there is no substance to it. Byeond the T20 instance there are NO incidents of any sort of cheating. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
I personally feel it is common sence that haveing Dev's in player corps and alliances would lend its self to cheating. Eve is about strategy and who better is in the know about EVE . Be it upcomming game developments or knowlege about meta game tactics. I mean seriously a Dev being in charge of BOB's fleet thats just to much to swallow. What makes you think that devs are so holy that they wont share info , exploite situations for their own gains. their hasnt been a human group on earth who hasnt in history. The only thing you can count on is a enforcible policy.

Wrong... there were over 33,000 players (the current record is in the 33,000 range) just this past sunday. They may not have BROKEN the record since like Dec/Jan but they've matched it (or nearly so) nearly every weekend. Sat/Sun the server is ALWAYS at 32-33,000 players or so.
