I've been following this game for a while. And I wonder, though they say the world in the game is all of the Caribbean and some of the coast of northern, central, and south america, is it to scale? That would be an enormous amount of space. I'm prettey sure that they sized it down a bit. I also read on their site,
www.burningsea.com , that each server can hold thousands of players at once. Is it possible that the world could get a little crowded? Crowded to the point that you couldn't voyage for long with out being attacked. Instead of open ocean, it would look like an old trade route for merchant ships. Anyone know about the size of the world?

I think they are going for heavy instancing so it might not be as noticible, it might be over crowded in ports or where ever the main meeting places are though, depends on if the game catches on or not. I can see why you have your concerns though some of the videos of villages/ports makes them look quite small.
I hope theres an option in this game to toggle whether peoples names show above their characters, really clutters up the screen, only mmo i have played recently to do this is lord of the rings, it helps in places like towns, and specifically in the AH so you can see where the npcs are.
I dont think id mind if it was over crowded. The opposite would be much much worse.
IIRC, they've said it will take 1 hour, real time, to cross from one end of the map, to the other.
That sounds like a lot of space to me...but we'll just have to wait and see.
unless the ships are realy realy fast.. that would be cool
That time frame is set if you was in a small fast ship and sailed non stop i doubt the game will to over crowded if it is then just more combat near the pvp zones
