New Player (Strange Problem)

bukshotbukshot Member Posts: 277
I am having a strange Issue. I can play the game on Very High video setting for hours with no trouble. For some reason when I enter the city of Neriak I get some sort of error saying the game was trying to access too much memory (not at home at the moment, can't post the actual wording) I am running Windows Vista with 3 gigs of RAM. I have a Gforce 512mb 7900 card. If I turn the video setting to balanced before entering the city,, I do not get the error. Just annoying to have to switch the setting everytime I enter the city. Has anyone heard of this error, or witnessed something similar. It also only happens in EQ2, I can play LOTRO on Ultra high with no trouble. I have no gone to any other cities than Neriak yet so I'm not sure if it is only this city. Thanks

Happens to me to and I have a quad core 3 ghz with 4 gigs of ram and an 8800 GTX video card (nvidia)

It's 2 things that causes you to crash. 1.  NVidia card (latest patch is having some problems.  It will also happen to you in East Freeport and Qeynos Harbor) and Vista.  But more so with Nvidia.

The fix is really easy.  When you enter into Neriak, simply go to options and then texture resolution. Go to character texture and take it from maximum to High. That will fix it.  When you leave that zone, place your character texture back to maximum.

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

  • It seems to be only the 8800 card that is having problems. That card also has had problems in Vanguard and LOTRO. The new 8800 driver was supposed to fix that, but....

I hope you dont mind but I'm going to piggy back on this one so there arent too many "help Me!" threads.

My computer crashes after 5 minutes or so of playing. Character slecetion and creation works forever but after login game play is great but then freezes and crashes to reboot.

SOE technical helps seems like they dont reply to anyone :(
