If you go to the GamesDay conventions, you don't automatically get a spot in beta.
At the GamesDay convention, you'll be able to play the game, see how it is, etc, and try out the beta for however long you can wrestle one of the computers away. They will probably (they did at the GamesDay in Toronto) have a ballot drawing for a bunch of beta accounts. You MAY win a beta account that way, but you aren't guaranteed.

So in the newsletter it is stated that f you enter the beta and recieve the newsletter you have the best chance to get in the beta. So why then at the bottom does it say if you pay and go to the baltimore convention you automatically get a spot in the beta. If thats the case why dont they just sell beta slots on the website? Am I wrong in my thinking? I mean in all seriousness its obvious they wouldnt sell beta slots but thats exactly what their doing with the baltimore convention.
i couldn't sign up to beta with my newsletter account (different websites for one thing), so that's a load of tosh from that...
it's a lottery, just roll the dice and hope you get in
I think they'll be somekind of catch attached to it, like invites at the end of the closed beta or something.. eitherthat or their using that to bribe people to come.
Blizzard did do the same with their Blizzcon, got a invite into the next beta, which was the Burning Crusade beta.
But the thing with ALL conventions... they are allways in America....
Haha yeah, i still laugh at how many people baught Crackdown just for that beta.
I admit i too baught the game but you know what the game is actually a awesome game... and to tell you the truth ive only logged into the Halo 3 beta once since it opened...
1) I like all major sports but I do have a soft spot for well-designed stadiums and the J-E-T-S, JETS, JETS, JETS.
2) As far as the Gamesday events, we are not charging for access to WAR. GDay is a GW event and we do not receive any money from the event in any which way, shape or form. They are being their usual great partners in allowing us to participate in the fun & frolic.
3) Newsletter subscribers are still the most favored, as a group, in terms of the best ways for people who don't already have a connection to Mythic/WAR/EA/etc. to get into the closed beta. There will also be contests, special giveaways, etc. but those are done on a very small scale unlike the newsletter.

this will be a short post due to the fact that i don't want what i feel like writing now to be seen.
If you go to any gaming convention there are usually bonuses and beta is more often than not one of them. This is nothing new.
Also, Crackdown was a fun game, people just didn't try it at all.
Total Est. Time: 19 hours, 19 minutes
Total Est. Distance: 1206.03 miles
Would much rather just buy the ticket.
I'm pretty sure you have to attend.
