With modern dx10 mmo, seems both whamer & Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures (AoC) are going broadband only.
7.1 surround sound audio.
real-time queued aimed combat through RPG skill system supporting pk (cash reserves/blood money are looted) skill evolution.
horse/camel-back combat.
"Set in 10,000 BC in the world of Hyboria," (author Robert E. Howard ) "in general means that the combat will be bloody, barbaric and brutal." Mature rated game. The "setting is chronologically directly after the Robert E. Howard 1935 full length novel 'The Hour of the Dragon,' in the era when Conan was king of Aquilonia."

Closed beta ongoing, Beta applications, co-published by 1993 Norwegian Funcom (Anarchy Online) and Eidos (Tomb Raider and Hitman,) est retail Oct 2007.

System requirements?
A general rule of thumb has been that if you can play the single player game Oblivion and have a cable modem or something nearly as fast/faster you should be able to play this at least on minimum requirements. The game is designed to work with Windows Vista and its DirectX 10, but those systems (while they boost top end performance) are not required. A recent FC interview stated that AoC's current minimum requirements are "roughly 3GHz P4 (or equivalent), ATI 9800 / NVidia 5700 and around 1 gig memory", it went on to mention they were working to lower memory requirements. link

I wouldnt even contemplate playing a real time combat mmorpg on a dial up connection. Just too crazy too even try and if you do you would end up being disapointed. For what the game will cost per month you might as well up yourself to broadband if possible.

i know write. well it being broadband only will take some users away alot of money from foreign and domestic markets. I dont use 56k but i know some connections that claim broadband connections are slow connections still overseas. here some people just cant afford the extra 50dollars to the 15dollars mmos want for a montly fee. thats 65+ dollars a month to play AoC. I know my primary use of internet is online games so i pay close to 70Dollars a month on that. 70dollarsx12 = 840 dollars and for the lower class to middle class thats alot of money in the end.

It sucks if you cant get better because of where you live (cable / satelite) but thats just tough luck to be honest. What else can you do apart from move?

Be carefull about what you quote as fact. The above statement and the thread it came were written by me, and I'm no developer. I've checked and double checked the information in there as best I can, but it is still second hand info.
