Does anyone know a GOOD mmoRPg game that has people interested in actualy ROLE PLAYING in it? I played ultima online for 4 years because it was the only mmoRPg i could find that people role played in.
i played guild wars and from my first impression the action was great the graphics were great but everyone looked soo similar and you have to look a certain way in order to be a certain class. so thats out of the question Role Playing wise that game just wont cut it.
any suggestions?

No there are no strictly role play game; strange names and lots of kids everywhere....
Lol, is it ever tough to find a mmorpg where most of the people actually roleplay now-a-days. You're best bet is to try and find a role play only server where the role playing is enforced.
If you can't find one on or find one on a game you like, you may want to wait for some of the newer mmorpgs coming out this year or early next year. Of course there is EQ2 and MEO, but here are 3 that will probably have good roleplaying and even a role playing server:

GW is going to be a good, fun game, but I wouldn't count on it to have much true role playing. Good luck.
Lol, had to edit to add this one, especially if you are an Ultima fan, check out Ultima X: Odyssey too.

I sort of agree that there aren't any real strictly roleplaying games, but there are some mmorpgs that have a community of roleplayers that you could join, if you looked.
Star Wars Galaxies, on Kettemoor server, has some of the finest roleplayers I had the joy of knowing.
In City of Heroes (Virtue server) there seems to be a lot of roleplayers.
There are even roleplayer where you would least expect, in Lineage II. Goes to show that we are still out there, you've just got to keep and eye out and look for us
I am still eagerly anticipating an ALL Roleplaying mmorpg, I mean one that everyone roleplays. I don't ever expect to see one, but I still hope . . .
Most games have active roleplaying communities. Find one in your favorite game and simply block out the rest.

the only true role playing games you will ever find are pen and paper. Unfortunately you will always find someone named pwnedJoo, or 3l337pronluv3r that runs around and says "hey lets go get those <bleeping> monsters cause I pwn this game!"

Sadly enough, that's so. If you want RP you'll probably have to settle for a MUD at the moment. Even in Horizon's RP server I often found people acting out of character and one person told me that they didn't really care about RP and yet they were in an RP server. I was thinking - if you don't want to RP then go somewhere else. No one forced you to join this server since you're not RPing. -_- just ruins the whole experience for everyone else.

The most roleplaying I have ever found in a MMORPG from my extensive experience would be from Anarchy Online, hands down. Even the hardcore non-roleplayers will roleplay without hesitation if a situation arises.

I long for the day when people actually have to roleplay in games. I want to see people who choose to be an orc hit shopkeepers instead of bartering .
But it takes a very brave company to produce a game such as this. First of all they will lose lots of people, which means they will have to produce a great game. Which obviously is a hard task in itself.
