I have to say for the entire time I have been following EQ2's development (ever since they first announced it), I thought the mechanics behind the graphics were superior but the art was some of the worst I had seen in any generation of any mmorpg.
While I think the character models and much of the clothing and armor is still truly horrid, there is a new batch of pics at the site below that is the first from the game to really impress me. The monsters and the effects (especially the dragon breath) are stunning. Some of the architecture is pretty nice as well.
The shot with the dragon flying over the ruined city with the army of lizardmen running through the town is truly epic looking.
These shots really have me excited about the game for the first time in a long time.

Now if the character models can just get rid of the baby fat they all seem to have and the chain and leather armor can lose the spandex design I will be really impressed.

The games not even in beta yet, I dunno why people want to dog things that will prolly change anyway. Im sure the EQ2 people can tell the models are plastic-like, they arent stoopid. Remember how EQ1 graphics looked originally? Be more concerned with gameplay, char mods can and will always change.
Laying in bed, looking up at the stars, a single thought passed through my head. Where the fuck is my roof?
