Gameplay status??

ManestreamManestream Member UncommonPosts: 941

Hi, i was wondering how this game's gameplay status has turned out thesedays?

I bought the game 1 week after launch, and left after the initial month was up (in my view and opinion this had to be the worst mmorpg i have ever bought) and it should still have been in beta. 3-5 weeks after i had left, the rest of the people i had been keeping in contact with also left due to teh game's state (thus no more news firsthand) and thus this post asking on teh games status?

Is it still as bad as what i now and then hear ro has things started to improve? right now, i have absolutly no intentions of going back in case the game has not improved/deteriorated even more. So anyone in the know know, please post up truthfully, your opinions on the game as it is.

For the short time that I played, game play was said to have been improved due to aggressive patching. I got 2 CTD's in about 10 days, not terrible for a game early in it's release ( but not great either ).

I can't really say yeah or nay regarding decreasing FPS near crowds because I never saw more than six people together in one place in the entire game. Impossible for a new player to get a group under level 12 by what I experienced.

I havent had many problems with the gameplay. Performance on my 2 year old machine at mostly low settings runs the gambit fromnice an airy outdoors with nothing but NPC's around 30-35fps to playing with a full group in a dungeon setting 8fps. That being said the worst problem Vanguard suffers ATM is a lack of population, and I have no idea what they are going to do about that since they arent saying.

    I wouldent buy it

If your computer can play the game, it runs decent. Better then launch 10 fold IMO. But there is still some issues with loading new chunks of new areas you explore (invisible zonelines) but after a few seconds of lag at those sections it run smoothly on my setup with High settings with shadows turned down because there usless memory hogs. I could care less about shadows. The low pop would probably keep the typical  MMO away because you solo most sessions. But i have seen alot of low level people poping up since i decided to return two weeks ago. And actually grouped with someone yesterday for a quest. So if you don't mind soloing they game is playable now to a extent, but i would wait a few more months to give it a go if you feel your not ready or your system cant handle it.

Things improved a bit until SOE took over, then it kind of stopped for the last little while. Performance improved slightly for me (balanced settings, 2 year old computer) over the 2 months or so I played, but not all that much. I'd say maybe a 5-10% FPS improvement, at most. That's not zero, but it wasn't enough to keep me around.

The fundamental gameplay has not even slightly changed, so if you didn't like the game play then you won't like it now. People are speculating that SOE may change it a lot in the course of chasing after that mythical "new player" crowd like they did in other games, but nobody knows for sure, and it certainly hasn't happened yet (and probably won't for months).

ok so from what your all saying, it seems to have lost alot of players (understandibly), and that SoE have now fully taken over the game?

Seems i did right by opting out when i did, but chose wrongly at purchasing the game in the first place.
