will let it patch over night. i live in the us and would like to know what are the most populated us servers? any advice on which classes i should stay away from due to being overplayed or "broken"? thanks in advance
The less powerfull classes are also the more underplayed classes, so if its uniqeness your after you may have to take a bit of a hit in the power department. The classes that stand out to me in this category are the monk and disciple.
The most popular classes are the cleric, ranger and bard - and they are all fun to play and fairly powerfull (especially the cleric) but of course they are pretty common.
On Targonor (PvE) I find there is generally a bit of an undersupply of tanks, and if I was going to recommend a tank I would say the Pally is a pretty cool class to go with.
But at the end of the day you should pick a class and race that you think looks/feels cool and will let you play the game how you want to play it. I wouldn't worry too much about whats over/under played etc, just go with what you think is fun.
I would advise you to go on Gelenia, the EU server. It's by far the most populated, and the american population is rising everyday. It seems to have become the "fits all" server of Vanguard.
I have also heard the Gelenia is the most populated server. Its worth bearing in mind that server merges are coming soon, so things might change drastically soon no matter which server you roll on.
My server Targonor seems to be at least in the better half of the servers as far as pop goes from what people tell me, and theres plenty of Guilds to join if your that way inclined.

First of all, Im sorry you bought it. Shoulda waited for the trial. Its coming out soon.
The most populated server right now is Gelenia andFloryndel (sp). However, one of the admins for Silky Venom (Vanguard fan site) stated that on peak hours he only found 600 concurrent players on. So you may have a hard time finding anyone. Unfortunately, the numbers went from 200K in January 2007 to 39K this month. (biggest drop in any MMO in MMO history...even beating SWG! )
But, I do hope you like it! You may be the next person raising their numbers up a bit

Where are these numbers coming from? Is it the MMORPGData chart thingy posted else where in this forum? If so, take the numbers with a grain of salt.
But if the admin of Silky Venom is finding low populations, I'd say it's a good bet there's not a lot of people playing at the moment. I do look forward to the free trial: I wouldn't mind giving this game a second go after the SoE over-haul. This is a time I would welcome an NGE...

Ill be the first person to say that if SOE truly fixes this game Ill jump onboard too. No doubt about it. However, in it's current state of affairs I wouldnt play it for free much less 14.99 a month.
Yeah, the Admin of Silky Venom stated on a forum thread (still on front page of their site) that Floryndel (sp) had only 600 people this past Saturday evening when another person from another guild did a consesus. The other person thought it was only 60 people. However, when the admin did it, it was 600. There was only 60 people in Thestria and 600 everywhere else (which is a big drop from 20K during the first week of release).
With numbers like that, it just tells you the game needs to be fixed and SOE certainly has the funds to fix it.

These poor Vanguard threads cant go five posts without someone apologizing for someone trying or liking the game.
I'll try to keep this positive/constructive...
Congratulations! Vanguard is a true diamond in the rough. As far as server picking goes, first choose your ruleset. If you like PvP, Tharridon has FFA PvP, and Varking is a Team PvP server.
All of the other servers are PvE. As was said before, Gelenia and Florendyl seem to be the most populated. Right behind that I would say Targonor, Flamehammer, or Thunderaxe. I dont know any numbers here, just reporting on how much I hear about people talking about these servers names in the community.
As for choosing a class, they are all good. I might stay away from monks or disciples, or warriors. They just havent gotten the same love as the other classes yet. A warrior revamp is coming next patch I hear, so they might fix them soon.
If you like healers, the Cleric seems to be a very popular class. They can solo extremely well, and are also the MVP when it comes to grouping. Heavy armor + healing + best buffs = badass. However, if you dont like overplayed classes this is not one for you.
As for broken classes, stay away from rogues. Their class depends heavily on stealth which doesnt work too well at the moment. Detection skills work to well, and you if you are seen by your enemy, your dead.
This is all from a PvP point of view. Thats what I do. I find PvE boring and unrewarding.

A MMO is like life. It is something to cherish and enjoy upon in it journey. So why race to the end of it. In life at the end you die.
